My blog has disappeared

Hi – my blog has disappeared. I haven’t updated for maybe 1.5 years but I have been paying the domain. But now when I log in to my admin panel, the blog and all the entries have gone. Is it possible to restore the posts/blog?

  • What is the URL of the site you are trying to access? We’ll be happy to take a look and see if we can help.

http://www.mitsaakaldtlesbiskeliv.dk – the page gives an IP address error (but that’s hard to fix when I can’t find it in the backend :) )

  • Hi there!

This domain used to be mapped to a WordPress.com site mitsaakaldtlesbiskeliv.wordpress.com, but it has already been deleted.

Since the domain is registered elsewhere and your site is not hosted with WordPress.com, we won’t be able to help here.
I’d suggest reaching out directly to your host for more information.

You can also try asking on the community forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/.

But unless I (the sole administrator) has deleted the site – which I have not, nor have I redirected it – won’t it be possible to restore it in WordPress?

As mentioned, it’s still visible in my cms via https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs

(albeit as a ‘linked blog’ which I’m not sure what means)

I’m the only user on the page, and I promise you I haven’t deleted it.

It’s years of content lost if it can’t be restored. Could it have been hacked?

That just means you linked your self-hosted site to your WordPress.com user account through the Jetpack plugin. Site data there is cached from your actual site through the Jetpack feature that allows you to use your WordPress.com dashboard to make posts, etc. But that isn’t the source of the data for your website – the WordPress installation at your hosting provider is and this cached data is not something that you could use to restore the site as it is not a backup.

Regarding what happened, we can’t advise on whether or not it was hacked – that’s information only your hosting provider would have.

Based on your domain nameservers – which you can look up for your domain here – I would recommend reaching out to Simply.com for help here as they appear to be the most recent host of your site.

    I hope that helps.
