My blog has disappeared in the process of trying to add a custom domain
-
In the process of trying to add a domain name to a site that I had just finished using a purchased theme on the latest installed version of wordpress everything has disappeared, my content has been erased and the site in question on the list of sites that I own has a red “warning” triangle next to it telling me I can’t access site data. Is there any way to get back to the previous version of my site (which was as yet unpublished) and retrieve everything?
My site was literally completed and now it’s totally gone and I have no idea what to do.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Can you confirm the address of the site in question?
I don’t see any Upgrades associated with your account:

Once you give me some additional clarification, I will be more than happy to continue addressing your issue.

Thanks very much for your help.
The address is http://www.real-fitness.co.uk
Is there anyway to revert the site to a previously saved version or something like that?
Thanks, Matt

Your domain’s name servers are pointing towards WordPress.com, but you still need to map this domain to your WordPress.com site, which you can do here:

Let us know if you have any more questions.

Thank you. And will that make the content I’d put together for the site reappear or has that all been lost somewhere?
I understand that might sound like a less than sharp question but I’m not that clued up on wordpress (at all).
Bests, Matt

At any time, you can access your WordPress.com site here:
http://mattthepearce.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
Your content will always be freely hosted at mattthepearce.wordpress.com.
Once you correctly map the domain, the content will be visible at real-fitness.co.uk.
If you have additional questions, please let us know :-)

Thanks for that but this is the thing.
I have a few sites and mattthepearce.wordpress.com isn’t the one I’m having the issue with.
It was 50.87.248.89. If you click on it (now called http://www.real-fitness.co.uk) you can read the stats of the site but if I click on “Customise” or “View site” or anything else I’m presented with a message saying safari can’t find the server and is unable to access the site. I can’t see any of the content or anything. Just the site’s stats…
Thanks for your continued help.

Are you trying to point real-fitness.co.uk to a site hosted at WordPress.com, or a site hosted elsewhere?

I was trying to point it at WordPress.
However, I just discovered that my business partner has signed this domain up with Bluehost.
How could that affect this situation?
Thanks a lot
Matt

It doesn’t matter where the domain is registered, but I do need to know the actual site (where your content is hosted) you’d like to use with the domain, e.g., a WordPress.com site or a WordPress.org site hosted elsewhere, like Bluehost.
Please visit the following link for a clear explanation of the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org:
Once you determine what you’re trying to accomplish, let me know, and I will be happy to continue addressing this issue.

I accessed all the content through wordpress.com but I’d downloaded a custom theme and wordpress 4.1.1 so it was wordpress.org I was using to build the site. However, apparently it was actually “shared” across the two servers (wordpress and Bluehost). I wasn’t aware this was possible.
All I want to do is be able to access the content that I was previously able to access via my wordpress.com user panel which I am now no longer able to do after attempting to use a custom domain name with my site.
Thanks a lot

The site you’ve indicated, 50.87.248.89/~realfitn/, is running a self-hosted/installed version of WordPress (using the free WordPress.org software).
Since your site is self-hosted with a different provider, support staff at WordPress.com do not have access to your site’s files or the ability to provide support for your current issue.
