My blog ignores me as the owner
-
I revived an old blog for another purpose but it behaves oddly. It does not recognize me as the owner, it registers all my visits and does not notify me of updates and comments. I wrote a comment as a test and it was never mailed to me.
Here is the culprit:
https://fibersandbeads.wordpress.com/ -
Hi –
The settings are configured properly. Please look at the email address on the account at wordpress.com/me/account/ and double check that’s the one you’ve been checking.
Next, add WordPress.com to your email contacts. Look for those missing notifications in the spam and pull them out. This will teach your email client that you want to see these notifications.
-
Hi! Thank you for your answer. I have two blogs under the same address and one functions properly. There are no stray messages in my Spam box.
I entered this address into my email contacts. I tested the site again by leaving a comment. The comment was not delivered. What do I do now?
-
Not sure about your other issues but views by logged-in members of your site, including yourself, are counted in your stats for sites that are set to private. Would making the site visible clear up the commenting issue?
-
Gone public, tested the blog for message and reply. Did not get any notifications. Nothing in the Spam box.
I’m getting desperate here. :( -
You mentioned “I have two blogs under the same address and one functions properly.”
What do you mean exactly by that? https://fibersandbeads.wordpress.com/ is only one site.
-
It is not uncommon to have several blogs:
https://victorianparis.wordpress.com/
Same owner as the other one.
-
I’ve just added a test comment to one of your posts. I can see it appears in your notification panel and also in the comments section, awaiting moderation:
https://wordpress.com/comments/all/fibersandbeads.wordpress.com
Would you please have a look if you received an email with the notification as well?
It sounds as if Yahoo was filtering messages from WordPress.com for some reason. Have you tried to add us to your email contacts?
Do you have another email address that you could test this with (like Gmail or Outlook)? If so, try temporarily changing the address on your account and see if you get the emails then. -
Yes, this comment came through and is awaiting moderation. How did you manage to do that?
I have two addresses, iva.polansky and pragensis2000, both at yahoo, but there is no way to add an email address of any sort to the blogs because I don’t see how. The only address that’ s an unmovable part of both blogs is my username , which is historcalfictionebooks.

I haven’t done anything special really, I just wrote the comment and hit the submit button. So did you received an email that this comment was posted?
How did you test if the comment section worked?

You can see a video tutorial on how to update the email address on your account:
-
I tested the comment section and subsequently deleted the comments.
Checked my email address ((email visible only to moderators and staff)) and it’s the same for both blogs. This is the weirdest thing: I sent myself a test comment that was not mailed to me. Then I visited incognito and posted a response to that comment. That came through in my email for approval. In short, I don’t get notices for whatever I do personally in that blog (update and comments) but I get notified when an outsider posts. The mystery deepens.
-
Okay, I noticed that email address is set to be notified of post changes. We have sent well over a dozen of those in the past 24 hours, as well as other emails. Are you seeing any of those?
If not I’m guessing due to the volume of emails, your provider is treating them like spam. Have you looked in your spam / bulk folders?
Would you be willing to test another address?
-
-
As for testing another address, I have my main blog linked to my current answer as well and I don’t want to mess up with it.
-
@historicalfictionebooks please do a full search for `[Historical Fiction Beta Readers] Please moderate: “Welcome!”
— this one was just sent recently.
Also, if you would please, temporarily test by using another email address in case your email is filtering.
We can confirm the above email went out, and that your mail server accepted it. We are unable to see what happened from there.
-
Nothing from you came within the past 15 hours. Check my comment section. There are 2 test comments from me on the Welcome! page and one from your staff member fresatomica 15 hours ago but that one is on another page.
I’m going to test another address. Hopefully, it won’t mess up the main blog.
-
OK, I tried to change my address but WordPress won’t let me. It says that the
address has already been used. It’s (email visible only to moderators and staff) -

Our email logs show we’ve sent you four emails in the past 15 hours: 2 for replies on this forum thread, one for a new post on a site you follow, and one for @supernovia’s comment that’s awaiting moderation on your site.
Check my comment section. There are 2 test comments from me on the Welcome! page and one from your staff member fresatomica 15 hours ago but that one is on another page.
Those are approved comments.
@supernovia’s comment is under the Pending tab at https://wordpress.com/comments/pending/fibersandbeads.wordpress.com, as you have comment moderation enabled on your site. The email notification we sent you for that comment has the subject line
Please moderate: "Welcome!", and was sent around 11 hours ago.I’m going to test another address. Hopefully, it won’t mess up the main blog
There is no way changing the email address on your WordPress.com account can have any effect on an individual site within your account, so there’s no need to be concerned about that messing anything up.
OK, I tried to change my address but WordPress won’t let me. It says that the
address has already been used. That email is associated with a different account, yes, but that other account doesn’t own any sites. You won’t be able to use that email for your
historicalfictionebooksaccount without first changing the email associated with the other account. If you don’t remember the password for the other account, you can use our password reset form at https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword to regain access, but make sure you log out of the
historicalfictionebooksaccount first before you try that.
