my blog is asking me to follow it

my new blog CRd isn’t recognizing that i am the admin – it is asking me to follow it, and is adding me to the stats graph every time i go in to take a look. yesterday i got an email notification when i published my first post, but today i did not. i have another blog that i’ve had for a while – through my sister’s lens, and that one works fine, but this one does not.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Howdy!

The stats issue is particularly odd if it is your visits making the stats go up. The internet is a public place, so there’s always a chance another visitor actually logged the visits and those are what you saw.

But barring that, the only reasons your views while logged in would be counted were if your site was set to private, or if your third-party cookies had an issue (so the site thought you weren’t logged in.)

So as a first step, could you visit this page and and the message that confirms your third-party cookies are in order?

Regarding the email notifications — being an admin is a separate thing from Following or receiving email notifications on new posts. Being administrator won’t send email notifications of new posts.

If you want to receive the emails, you’ll need to Follow the site, then make sure Email Notifications are enabled here:

    https://wordpress.com/following/edit/

Would you please confirm that the site you’re having these issues on is the following?

I’ll look into the email records for it further and see what was happening between yesterday and today.

    thanks for your reply.

yes, my cookies are in order. they’re chocolate chip, to be exact. (ha)

it’s interesting about the email notification when a new post is published. i never realized before that the reason i was getting the notification each time i published a post was because i was following the blog.
i’ve started up 6 blogs ( or so ) now, and i always thought that each time i published a post, wordpress was ‘congratulating’ me, by email, for my publication. ( i guess i should have read the email more closely! )

I think i’m realizing the issue now with this new blog. ( http://cedarridgedesign.wordpress.com )

first, it has not automatically made me a follower of it – which the others always have – i have never had to click anything to follow the individual blogs, they have always signed me up to follow, i assumed,
because i was the creator of them.

second, i was always signed up to receive the notifications by email each time a post was published, without my having to sign up for that also.

it has been about a year or so since i started my last blog, so maybe changes have been made with the blog start-up process, and i didn’t realize it.

anyway…. thanks again for your reply. any further advice/info is much appreciated.

    Hi Maria,

We’re investigating to see why you’re being tracked in your new blog’s stats. It looks like you use the Chrome browser — is that the browser you’re using to view your blog?

Can you also make a screenshot of your browser window when you visit your blog? You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can use an online service like Snaggy.

That will help us figure out what’s going on with that for you. :)
