Why is my blog getting a huge increase in spam comments?

  For about 2-3 weeks now, my blog is getting an enormous increase in the number of obvious spam (mainly porn) with many links, which pretend to be comments. While WordPress dump almost all of them into my Spam Comments folder, I still have to look at them to ensure a comment that isn’t spam is among them — before I delete that folder.

  Why isn’t Akismet catching these obvious spam comments?

  Hi Eowyn,

  I’m sorry to hear that you’re having this problem. If a comment is in your spam folder, Akismet may not yet recognize the item as spam.

  You can always let us know if we’ve missed any spam.
