My blog is gone. Could it have to do with the domain I forwarded it to on GoDadd

    I created a blog on WordPress and had the WordPress URL redirect to a domain on GoDaddy so it would display as loelee.com/blog. I wanted to cancel that GoDaddy domain and change the settings in wordpress so it goes to hiloelee.com/blog. However, now that I’ve cancelled the first domain, it appears that I can’t access my blog anymore. Help!

    If you want to use the same domain you have registered at GoDaddy, it’s never a good idea to cancel. You could transfer your domain to a new registrar, if you want, but when you cancel, you risk the chance of losing your domain name permanently,

    If you’d like, you can keep your domain at GoDaddy and map it to your site here at WordPress.com. In order to that, you can follow these instructions:

    Unfortunately no :(

    I had two sites. One was loeandthenastys. The other was a blog that I was directing to loelee.com/blog. I tried to find the wordpress URL that existed before the redirect but I couldn’t find it.

    Hi again,

    If your site was named loelee.com/blog, it wasn’t a WordPress.com site. It could have been a WordPress.org blog on self-hosted site, though.

    Here at WordPress.com, we don’t map to any folders, so loelee.com/blog is not a URL we’d be able to connect to. (The /blog indicates a folder.)

    Because I believe loelee.com/blog was self-hosted, the only way to gain access to it is through your webhost. If you’ve cancelled it, before exporting all your site’s content, you may not be able to get hold of your blog. You should contact your webhost’s support staff to see if you can have a backup or export of your site.
