My Blog is invisible to Google
-
i think i found something here, i did a random check on sites that have been listed on google and sites that wasnt listed,
all of the sits that was listed on google DIDNT have tags on their post and all the sites that wasnt listed HAD tags on their post…
maybe it has something to do with the tags :)
i remove some tags from my page and now lets hope that google index my site once for all :) -
This blog of mine I started with tags right away compared to my first blog where I never used tags. The first blog was listed in less than a week and this blog was listed in two days. But I had this blog listed on my other blog’s blogroll to get the Google juices going. Could be Google because last I checked none of my pictures are on Google Image. :(

@phattrance
Thanks for sharing what you found out. I have carefully avoided tagging any of my posts. What’s the point of tagging if the tags lead your visitors off your blog and into the wordpress.com tag pages just like the categories on the posts do? Apparently I have made a good choice. It’s really too bad that you have gone through this struggle. I feel for you. -
i don’t think it’s the tags. My recent post about FreeRice shows up when searching for the tags

That is discouraging to hear. I just started a wordpress self-hosted blog. I also created a sitemap and submitted to Google. I started the blog on Friday morning and as of Monday by 11:00 am the report from Google’s webmaster tools was that my sitemap was downloaded, but still not indexed or cached yet. The blog is at bajachildrensfund.com I also thought it would be a good idea to set up a backup blog at Blogspot see, bajachildrensfund.blogspot.com. Good luck getting indexed!

Google does things on their schedule, and there isn’t anything we can do about it. I’ve seen it take as long as 3 or 4 weeks – it did when I first started my blog, and I did everything that everybody suggested to make sure it happened as quickly as possible.
That said, since you are self-hosted you’re using different software that we are here at wordpress.com, so you need to be asking your questions over at http://wordpress.org/support/ .

now i have removed all the tags from my blog. now lets see what google finds :)
it can have something to do with a combination of the theme and tags that makes google not want to index my blog, -
hello phattrance,
you mentioned above:
i think i found something here, i did a random check on sites that have been listed on google and sites that wasnt listed,
all of the sits that was listed on google DIDNT have tags on their post and all the sites that wasnt listed HAD tags on their post…
could you please provide us with just a couple URLs of such *wordpress.com* blogs (besides yours), so that we could peek what do they have in common, which possibly prevents them from getting indexed (and also their privacy settings, if any)?
-
Note for example that these sites doesnt have tags (or have very little tags compared to how many post they have on their site) and is listed:
http://symbianworld.wordpress.com/
http://thoughtsons60.com/
http://mobilexpert.wordpress.com/
http://sonyericssonblog.wordpress.com/
http://smartmobilegadgets.wordpress.com/those are the links that i have at home, the others i can past in like 2 or 3 days since i didnt do that test at home on my bookmarks,
-
oops, sorry.
it’s my bad: I meant sites you found that are NOT listed, i.e.:
…all the sites that wasnt listed HAD tags on their post.
(a *couple* will pretty much suffice ;-)

is replaced with the text that i wrote on the post and not some junk text :) -
one more think, 2days ago i started the same blog at blogger for fun to see if google index it or not. and yes it did, after just one day the blogger site got listed. and also that site is without tags :)
-

Pages from your site are included in Google’s index. See Index stats. [?]

BTW, thx for helping my out guys :)

Yes, but the apparent solution – removing all tags from a blog – wouldn’t seem to keep me in my happy place. Is there a conflict between how wordpress, com does tags and what Google expects or was this a (semi) isolated incident?

@tsp:
i really think it must be a combination of factors (see my response further up the page https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=16628&page=3&replies=77#post-128097 ) -
What the heck is going on?
cross references:
(1) Google back links gone
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=17163(2) Incoming links not appearing on dashboard
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=16226(3) robots.txt file is stopping google from accessing my blog – how do I delete it? https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=13125

FWIW Google is indexing my blog correctly, and now it’s Yahoo that sees no incoming links. Gad!
