My blog is no longer redirecting to my domain!
-
Okay, I’ve had the same blog/domain setup for the last couple of years. I ran into a financial tight spot…. you know…. for the last decade or so…. And couldn’t renew my domain and wordpress setup at the same time… so I renewed my domain and then a couple of weeks later renewed my wordpress services.
No big deal.
it’s all set up the same as it has been. I paid the annual $15 redirect/mapping fee, to change my address bar to my domain name, but still use my wordpress website – just like I’ve been doing for the last 2 years.
I’m not sure I’ve got all the terminology correct, I write well enough for the girls I run with, but I don’t know this kind of stuff well.
Anyway, when one goes to my domain, wordpress still says that the domain mapping upgrade isn’t found! When I go to my account, it shows that I’ve got redirect paid for, and I’ve got the receipt to show that I did… but for the life of me I can’t figure out why what has worked well for 2 years isn’t working now.
Can anyone help me solve this?

re: renewing upgrades
You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, renew or cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew. Managing Domains https://en.support.wordpress.com/manage-purchases/#managing-domains
If you are not logged in under the correct username account clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies and then login under the correct username account.
If you do not have the required access you need to contact the person who registered the account and site under it and have them transfer the sites to your username account by using this process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account
The owner of the site can transfer the site (and/or upgrades) to another account by adding another username account as an Admin. https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator
Change Credit Card Details
https://en.support.wordpress.com/change-credit-card-details/Or have you allowed a domain to expire?
Allowing a domain to expire
When you allow your domain expire, it then goes through a process that can take several months to complete described at https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/.If you are in the grace period you will not have to agree to pay a redemption fee set by the domain name registrar that wordpress.COM staff cannot waive.
Otherwise, if you want Staff to try to recover the domain for you then you will have to agree to pay the redemption fee.
This thread is tagged this thread in the sidebar with modlook for Staff attention.
If you’re logged into the account that is associated with your expired domain, they will look up its status and get in touch with details.
If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into the associated account, and provide the domain URL here.

Stand alone upgrades were discontinued over a year ago. Now we need to register a plan and the price has changed.
You can use the Personal Plan, yes, but you need to add the plan first. If you add the domain first, Premium is selected automatically.
Go to My Site ->Plans and buy the Personal Plan, and then you can go back and claim your free domain at My Site ->Domains ->Add.

Hi jaredlanny,
when one goes to my domain, wordpress still says that the domain mapping upgrade isn’t found!
You recently purchased a site redirect for brokendad.com but you have previously purchased domain mapping instead. The two work differently:
- A site redirect is used to redirect traffic away from one site and to another
- Domain mapping is used to connect an existing domain with a WordPress.com site
If you want site visitors to see brokendad.com in their browser’s address bar you will need to purchase domain mapping instead. As @timethief mentioned, domain mapping use to be available as a standalone upgrade but is now only a feature of paid plans. The Personal plan is the cheapest option is you are upgrading primarily to map a domain.
As the site redirect isn’t doing what you need, I’m happy to cancel and refund that upgrade for you. Just let me know if you are happy for me to go ahead and do so.
I’m happy to answer any questions you have.
