My blog is not featured in tag pages anymore.

My blog is not featured in tag pages anymore. It used to draw a lot of traffic from there, for example tags like architecture, design, photography. But not anymore… Is my blog now on some “black list”? I do not post very often, maybe that is the problem?

And in general how are those tag pages generated? Are they automatic or someone checks the contents first?

The reasons for non-appearance of posts on Topics pages are found here > Topics > missing posts > http://en.support.wordpress.com/topics/#missing-posts

The posts are automatically posted by the software on the Topics pages indicated by bloggers assigning Tags and Categories to their posts. There are 31 million of us publishing posts and Staff don’t check the contents of the posts. Many bloggers use inappropriate and/or misleading tags and categories in an attempt to game the system. That is why that system is so “broken”. Many bloggers are spamdexers (tag psammers) who have embraced the asinine idea that the more tags and categories they assign to posts the better chances their post have of attracting traffic. That’s nonsensical as the least number of relevent tags an/or categories is what attracts targeted traffic from those who are looking for specific material. The flow of traffic to blogs from the Topics pages is at best negligble. It’s Google and the other search engines that send signficant traffic to healthy blogs.

    Hi Timethief,

    Thank you reply.
From what I have read the problem might be that (most likely) too many tags. 15 tags and categories in total, such limitation was a new thing for me. Up until now I believed that the more tags-the better. Will not be easy to shake it off…
Another possible reason: “misusing the global tag feature”, however I would like to believe that doe not apply for me as I always post my own photos, it takes hours to make one blog post, and I never put links, or use pics from internet or other blog pages… “Irrelevant”(uninteresting) content, so someone after-all does decide what is worthy and what is not?

I write all this, because I noticed that few of my last posts stopped being published in tag pages. Maybe for some people tag pages traffic is negligible, but for me it was a lot. That is how people with similar interests used to find my posts, and now all is silent, news get old fast. No visits in the first few hours most likely means no visits at all. Actually as I think back, I even chose to have a blog on wordpress for this reason: posts being automatically published in categories.

So how do I get my blog back on tag pages? Just less tags?
