My Blog looks different from the registered domain
-
Hi,
I’m not really sure why even though my blog posts are published they do not show up on my website.
Also looks different from the layout I have currently.

http://roxanneshares.com/ is a self-hosted WordPress.ORG website hosted by Hostgator. Your WordPress.com address also appears to be redirecting to that address. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t want a self-hosted site, but instead want your WordPress.com blog to appear at that domain, let us know.
If you want to move your posts from WordPress.com to WordPress.org, follow the instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org
For more help with that, please visit the WordPress.org support forum for assistance as we won’t be able to help you here: http://wordpress.org/support/ If you don’t already have a username on that forum, click the register button in the upper right corner so you can post in that forum.

Hi @kokkieh, thanks for the reply!
So from what you’re saying, if my blog content is on .ORG, I don’t need to move my posts since I have nothing on .COM
So what should I do exactly for the correct redirecting? I’ve actually purchased a theme which according to the article here I am suppose to abandon the .ORG as .ORG is based on CSS coding, yes?

There is no content on the .org website. Isn’t that why you posted here?
All I can tell you is what I see: you have a self-hosted domain with WordPress.org installed and your WordPress.com URL is redirecting to that domain, which means you purchased a site redirect upgrade here. You only do that if you don’t want to be on WordPress.com anymore, but want to run your own website on WordPress.org. If you want to be on your own website, then you need to move your content to your WordPress.org website using the instructions I linked for you and get further help on the WordPress.org forum.
So what should I do exactly for the correct redirecting?
If you don’t want to run your own website, but want to use your existing blog here at WordPress.com, only with a custom domain, then you need to map it to your domain, not redirect it.
Let us know exactly what you want to do: run your own website at WordPress.org (i.e. leave WordPress.com), or use your existing blog here at WordPress.com with your custom domain.

Hi, and thanks again for your response. I’m sorry but I’m still quite lost.. please bear with me!
I purchased a theme for wordpress.com so I don’t really want to keep .org (which is what I apparently signed up for and has nothing there) so what to I do?
Since I already paid for my domain name through HostGator, I would like to make good use of it so what steps should I do to map my .COM to that domain?
I hope I’m on the same page as you now :)

That’s what I wanted to know, thanks.
To stay on WordPress.com, first remove the Site Redirect. If it’s been fewer than 30 days since you bought it, you might be able to get a refund by cancelling it under Store ->My upgrades: http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades If you don’t see that option, let me know and I’ll tag this for staff as I don’t know whether merely disabling the redirect will work in this case. (Be careful not to cancel your premium theme by mistake.)
Next, buy the domain mapping upgrade. That will point the domain you bought to your WordPress.com blog. See here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
As part of the mapping process you’ll need to contact HostGator to change your nameservers. At the same time, cancel your hosting with them. Don’t cancel the domain itself, but only the hosting account as you won’t need that. Your hosting is provided by WordPress.com, so you only need to pay for your domain with them.
If you need more help with any of this, let me know and I’ll tag this for staff to help you further.

Okay! I’ve checked the link but sadly I got the domain since June 27 but I was having issues with DNS and HostGator and it was just a mess – first time using HostGator and it’s not doing well for me.. I would need your help in tagging this to help me cancel then.
As for the domain mapping upgrade, I’m not able to get rid of the current roxanneshares.com (primary) so I went ahead to the 3rd step and contacted HostGator in the mean time, so that will be taken care of shortly.
Thank you so much for your help – I’m sorry everything is tangled, I literally went back and forth between several website’s tutorial so I’m not even sure what happened or what the purpose of each step was..

I’ve tagged this for staff to help you get that redirect removed and mapping up. Please be patient while waiting for their response.

http://roxanneshares.com/ appears to be just fine to me, and it is mapped to roxanneshares.wordpress.com.
Here’s what I see: https://cloudup.com/cI9KEV3WhyF
You only have three posts published at roxanneshares.wordpress.com, the most recent being July 28.
Are you seeing something different?

At the custom domain I see this: http://snag.gy/90Xnu.jpg and the WordPress.com URL also redirects to that site. That’s why I assumed there must be a Site Redirect set up on the WP.com blog instead of mapping.I do see the OP has updated the nameservers to WP.com, but I still get taken to the WP.org blog.

No, it’s definitely just domain mapping.
Try clearing your browser’s cache.
If that doesn’t work, try clearing your computer’s DNS cache: https://support.opendns.com/entries/26336865-Clearing-the-DNS-Cache-on-Computers-Servers-and-Web-Browsers

It is working now! :) Kokkieh has helped me and I just followed the steps he’s suggested. I guess the only thing I didn’t need to do was the domain mapping upgrade or something. HostGator was able to help me set the servername and I kept domain name as suggested :)
Thank you both for your help! Have a nice day! I’ve changed the status to resolved :)

Now I can see it too, without having to clear the cache. I guess the name server change just needed some time to get through.@roxanneshares
As staff-blorbo indicated, you apparently already had the mapping upgrade, but you probably just missed a step somewhere. Glad I could help.
