My blog not showing up with some blogger subscriber

One of my viewers reported that my blog dropped off her blogroll on a blogspot hosted site. I verified my feed and it checked out ok. Anyone have a clue what the problem could be. The reason I’m posting it here is because I was dropped right after I created the new look to my blog. Any clues what happened. I just visited her blogspot blog and I’m not there.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Your feed validates just fine using the W3C feed validator, but I suspect that some of the problem may be because of the image sizes in your blog. Your first two images are 356k and 372k and that causes your blog to load very slowly, and it also causes your feed to load very slowly. It could be that blogspot is simply giving up and timing out on showing your feed since it takes so long to load.

You really must optimize your images so that what you upload to your blog is around 50k-75k. On monitors on the internet, you will not be able to see the difference since monitors are either 72 or 96 dpi. People on slower DSL (256k) or dialup (yes there are still a lot of them out there) will likely click away from your site rather than spend many minutes waiting for your site to load.

    Optimize your images

Thank you and that makes sense. I actually did take those last images over to Picnik.com and compress them as I was trying to follow your previous directions. I guess I didn’t compress enough. I’ve had 700 visitors today which is some of my best yet. I wonder how many more I could have gotten if the site loaded more quickly. I also tried to find the–read more option so that the rest of the content would open separately from the main page. I could not find it? Is it a per post option? I’m off to eat dinner and will check back as soon as I’m finished. I am listening to you and trying to make these changes—it just takes practice on my part.

Yes, the more tag has to be inserted on a post-by-post basis. It is the icon on the top row with the two white blocks separated by a dashed line.

Ok, I inserted the read more for the front page load. I had done that before and for the life of me I could not figure that out cause I was looking for an option for the whole blog and not post by post. It was a brain fog moment.

My only concern left is that the header is loading properly. I compressed the photo. I don’t want to remove it but could if it is further contributing to the slow load time. Thank you

I just cleared my cache and viewed your blog, and it is loading considerably faster. I think you are there. And the header loads quickly as well.

Thank you so much. I appreciate all that help from you and the rest of the folks who have commented both here and a thread that said— rate my blog. It’s all helpful. I listened and the results proved successful.
