My blog now updates very slowly when I change something; how do I fix it?

  Since this morning my blog updates with aching slowness; stats are hours old. I can force it to update by repeatedly clicking on the link about 20 times in rapid succession, but clearly I shouldn’t need to do that. I started using a proxy server last night so I suspect that has something to do with it, however I put my blog in the exceptions list so it won’t use the proxy server for this blog, yet I still have the issue.

  It seems as though I’ve managed to fix it; I added the whole address starting with http:// to the exceptions list and this time it worked, though I’ve tried that before; maybe it needed time to “take” somehow?

  It sounds like the proxy or some local setting (the exceptions list) was to blame for the slowness. Thanks for posting back with how you resolved this, that’s always helpful.
