Hi,
usually automatically showcases as a ‘Gallery’ with my first 4 pics
Can you provide a link to a gallery in a post that was created in this manner? I’ve not yet seen a WordPress.com theme that does this trick. In my experience, regardless of the theme applied, a post will only display a gallery if you create a gallery in the post. See the Galleries and Slideshow support page for relevant instructions.
The gallery format may be applied to that or any post on the Fiore theme, but this action does not create a gallery. Also, if you do create a gallery in a post, it is not necessary that you choose the gallery format for that post.

My post link that I’m referring to is already in my previous message. I know it usually will show gallery images automatically, but this time….it DIDN’T do it, & I had FIVE photos in the post, so it definitely should have shown the first FOUR of them, which is why I’m inquiring if there is some kind of glitch or something going on with WordPress
Here is the link again….

Here is an example of one post that actually DID showcase the gallery like it’s supposed to:
https://huntsclubhouse.wordpress.com/2017/03/17/spring-is-here-great-ideas-for-spring-break/But I also have SEVERAL other posts that WERE the gallery layout then all of a sudden when I looked at them weeks later…they were changed to just ONE photo! Dating back to December of last year 2016… so there is really something wrong with this system.

Thanks. I don’t find a gallery in the post https://huntsclubhouse.wordpress.com/2017/03/17/spring-is-here-great-ideas-for-spring-break/. Nor do I detect how this post is significantly different than the previously linked post (which I had looked at immediately upon responding to the topic) with regard to images, so I’ll tag the thread for staff attention. Please wait for staff to respond.

Hi there,
Galleries are not created automatically if you add more than one image to a post. To create a gallery, you need to add multiple images at the same time, and select a specific gallery layout in the Add Media overlay. Posts also aren’t automatically set to the Gallery post format – you need to manually select that setting before you publish the post. There has been no recent changes to how this works.
In both the posts you linked you added a number of images separated by text. There is no way the images will show as a gallery if you add them that way.
You can read how image galleries work in the link @musicdoc1 provided above:

Are you perhaps speaking of the Gallery Card that is used in the WordPress.com Reader? The Reader will show the first four images in a post in a gallery on the Reader card, but only if those images are wider than 350 pixels. In your Easter Egg post only two out of the five images are wider than 350 pixels, so for that post the Reader will only show the first image.

YES, I was referring to how the posts looks in the READER per it states it will automatically showcase the posts based on the layout & text amount…etc.
but didn’t know the specifics on HOW big….for the gallery layout, so good to knowThanks!

It sounds like you’ve figured this out with kokkieh’s help so I’m going to mark the thread resolved. If you run in to any other troubles please get back in touch and we will be happy to lend a hand :)
