My blog posts don’t have paragraph spacing
-
I am designing a site for my company but I don’t wrtie the blog content. The person who does that can’t seem to get paragraph spacing to work correctly so I tried it out, and I can’t either. I tried creating a blog post and I can’t get it to look the same way as it does in the visual editor. Even if I try to edit the code, it won’t include the <br>. I’m totally confused as to why this should be difficult.

Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out with your question.
Since your site, test3.hamacher.com, is hosted on WordPress.org, this issue falls outside the scope of our usual support. For further assistance, please contact your hosting provider or seek help in the WordPress.org forums.
However, here are some steps you can take to resolve the paragraph spacing issue in your blog posts:
Theme Settings:
- Many themes have specific styles for paragraphs and line breaks. Review your theme’s settings to see if there are options to adjust paragraph spacing. You can also switch to a default theme like Twenty Twenty-One to see if the issue persists.
Proper HTML Tags:
- Ensure you’re using the correct HTML tags for paragraphs (
<p>) and line breaks (<br>). In the visual editor, pressing Enter typically creates a new paragraph (<p>tag), while pressing Shift + Enter creates a line break (<br>tag).
Gutenberg Block Editor:
- If you’re using the Gutenberg block editor, try switching to the Classic Editor plugin. Sometimes, the block editor can interfere with formatting.
Plugin Conflicts:
- Deactivate all plugins and then reactivate them one by one to identify if any plugin is causing the issue. Plugin conflicts can sometimes affect how content is displayed.
Custom CSS:
- Adding custom CSS to your theme can help manage paragraph spacing. You can add the following CSS code to your theme’s customizer under Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS:
css p { margin-bottom: 1.5em; /* Adjust the value as needed */ } - This will apply consistent spacing between paragraphs.
Content Editor Settings:
- Sometimes, settings in the content editor might affect paragraph and line break rendering. Ensure that these settings are configured correctly.
