My blog reverted back to all the original theme!!!

  All of the work I have painstakingly done on my wordpress reverted back to the original theme. Hours of menu categorization and work has been reassigned. All that is left is the original pages in the menu bar. Even the header went back to the original theme picture. What happened? How do I know this wont happen again when I spend hours redoing it to the way I need it? I am devastated about all of the work I have done is wrong now.
