My blog stopped recognizing me
-
I was looking at my WordPress.com stats, and I realized that it was tracking my own visits to my pages. Also, when I go to one of my pages, I’m treated as a visitor, not the creator — that is, I’m not offered the option to edit the page, etc.
Oddly, WordPress still recognizes me in some ways — it lets me log in, and knows which blogs I own.
This change must be very recent. The only thing I can think of that might be related is that I “upgraded” to Firefox 29, and that seems to have done something weird to my cookies.
I’d appreciate any suggestions as to how I can get WordPress to recognized me again. My blog is actually my work web site, so my job depends on this. Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m still seeing this account as being listed as the owner and sole administrator of ericalbert.com. So it doesn’t appear that anything is amiss from this end.
Might I suggest using Chrome or Safari for a bit and seeing if the issue replicates itself there? If it does, then perhaps Firefox is the culprit. If not, then perhaps something else is the source.

I’ve just tried Chrome, and the “edit” button works fine there. So I’d guess it happened when I upgraded to Firefox 29. My preferred browser is Firefox, and I’d like to stick with it. What can I do?
I’ve already cleared the browser cache, removed the WordPress cookies, told Firefox to accept third-party cookies, and tried running Firefox in “safe” mode (which didn’t help).
What else can I try? Thanks!

Hmmmm, this is very odd. My confusion is compounded by the fact that I am using Firefox 29 as I type this and I have not experienced any of the issues you are describing. Now, I am on a Apple computer, so the browsers are not going to be exactly the same.
I assume that you have tried logging out and back in again. Were you logged out when you cleared cookies/cache?

OK, it’s working now. I tried so many things, I’m not sure what fixed it, but, if I had to guess, it was (once again) deleting all WordPress cookies and exceptions from Firefox /Tools/Options/Privacy, then setting Firefox to be wide open (/Tools/Options/Privacy History = “Remember history”), then logging in to WordPress. Once me “Edit” button returned, I went back to Firefox and closed down privacy again — I don’t think it’s wise to surf the net accepting everything that sites dump onto your computer.
Thanks for your suggestions!
