My Blog through the Vigilance Theme

    To All:

I decided to use Vigilance as my Theme, and uploaded my custom header to the Vigilance specifics. When I hit ‘view’ the contents of the page covered my banner. I can’t figure out ‘how to’ get the banner on top of everything else. Even going through the CSS I can’t find the right way to move the contents below the banner, or find the banner to move it appove the contents. Any help in finding the correct CSS issue to handle all of that would be appreciated.

    My blog is http://mwrugbynews.wordpress.com

    Cheers,
    Shawn

You have some serious CSS issues that are causing the problems. My suggestion is to delete all your changes from the CSS edit window, make sure that “add to existing stylesheet” is selected and then click the save button.

How are you doing your CSS? If you have pasted the complete CSS for vigilance into the window, and then made changes, you have to select “Start from scratch and just use this” before saving.

If you are putting only the parts of the CSS that you are changing into the CSS window, then you need to make sure that “Add this to the Vigilance theme’s CSS stylesheet (view original stylesheet)” is selected before saving.

    the sacred path:

Just getting into all of this through WordPress, and I think I’m at the beginning of the learning curve. Thank you very much for explaining the ‘Start from scratch’ and the ‘Add this to the Vigilance theme’ instead of simply saving what I did in the ‘save stylesheet’!

I was thinkig that if the template offered your own banner, and gave you the dimensions to go by, that everything would come out just fine once I uploaded the image. Is there something I should everytime in order to get it right from the start after I upload? I also take it that I should copy and paste the ‘view original stylesheet’ because I do believe that without doing that, after taking a fourth and fifth look, what’s still there is from the former ‘Theme’ I was checking out . . . right?

Anyway, thanks again for the help . . . I do appreciate it.

    Cheers,
    Shawn

    You’re welcome.

The header on vigilance is 920 x 180.

Definitely remove everything from the previously theme’s CSS that you were playing with. CSS is theme specific and that is probably what is messing things up.
