My blog won't open even though i have a password

Hi there, I recently changed my password, and when I try to log in with the new password, I can access the dashboard and everything behind the scenes but every time I try to look at the blog itself, i get directed to enter the password again as though I am not the owner of my own blog, but my password doesn’t get me through! Please help.

When you try to look at the blog itself, are you still logged in to WordPress.com? Since your site is private, it would prompt you to enter your username/password again if you weren’t logged in.
If you’re prompted to enter your username and password again, can you let me know what happens when you fill out those details?

Hi I’m so sorry for the delay … yes, so with my username and password I can enter into the space where I can see my dashboard and posts, but when I try to see the actual site (as it would look to the public) I am prompted to enter my username and password again. But when I enter the same username and password that I entered before it won’t let me in! It says the blog is private and I would need to have a password to enter!… as though i have chosen the wrong password even though that same password let me in before!

Thanks for clarifying! That’s odd – it should let you into the site automatically because you’re the site owner. Could you try another browser perhaps? I’m wondering if some setting in Firefox is logging you out when you switch tabs. Also, can you confirm the WordPress.com account you’re logged in to?

thanks so much, actually, you’re right! It was the browser, I tried using Safari and it worked fine. Unfortunately due to the age of my computer, Safari doesn’t work so well when viewing videos and things like that, is there a way to fix firefox so I can use it as a browser instead?

It sounds like Firefox might have some setting checked that’s logging you out or not saving login details when you open a new tab. Can you try resetting it as described here?

As that page mentions, the following items will be reset:
Extensions and themes, website permissions, modified preferences, added search engines, download history, DOM storage, security settings, download actions, plugin settings, toolbar customizations, user styles and social features will be removed.
