My blog's Featured Content is missing

  The layout is said to have 3 post in the featured content area even if no post is tagged, it would show 3 latest posts instead. But my blog somehow doesn’t have the featured content area layout in the beginning once I activate this Gateway theme. Is there a way that I can fix this? Many thanks!
