my blog’s feed hijacked by wordpress.com blog?
-
For some reason other sites that pull my posts (i.e. other blogs, and social community sites (Ravelry.com) are apparently being updated also with the ‘latest news’ from the wordpress.com blog too. This has led to me being removed from at least one blogroll, and it’s infuriating. Has anyone else suffered from this? And most of all – does anyone know what I can do to stop it?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We cannot control who pulls our RSS feeds nor can we control who links to our blogs. The only way to be removed is to request removal. Do note that you can set your RSS feed to “Surmmary” here > Settings > R

I WANT my feeds pulled- I just don’t want WordPress’s posts to show up instead of mine. And then people get linked to the wrong place – i.e. wordpress.com and not me.
Here’s an example of what it looks like:
http://fusedglass.files.wordpress.com/2010/11/picture-4.jpgIs there some setting I can fiddle with to make this stop?
-
I’m sorry but every wordpress.com blog has both an RSS Feed for Entries (Posts)
http://fusedglass.files.wordpress.com/feed and for Comments http://fusedglass.files.wordpress.com/comments/feedIf we have our blog visibility settings set to public then we cannot control who links to those RSS feeds. The only way to have this other site stop drawing your RSS feed is to request removal.
-
I’m curious: what is the URL of the feed other people are using, in which they claim WordPress.com posts are inserted?
-
I’m sorry – I’m having computer problems and this site is “hanging”. The RSS feed URLS I posted above are not correct – these are the correct URLs
Posts > http://fusedglass.wordpress.com/feed
Comments > http://fusedglass.wordpress.com/comments/feedI have reduced the number of my posts that display in my RSS feed and set it to display Summaries only to deter blog scrapers. I believe that’s all we can control. Aside from that we can watermark all images.

You do make it a bit hard to help you since you have not left a link to your site.
But I did look at your feed: http://fusedglass.wordpress.com/feed/
Every article was from your blog.
Are you sure there is no problem on the receiving sites?
The feeds should be automatic and only two setting I am aware of (full or summery feed). If you continue to have what you think is trouble then contact support directly: http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

@Modeartors
Please delete the URLs I posted here as they are incorrect > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/my-blogs-feed-hijacked-by-wordpresscom-blog?replies=7#post-531217Also note that for the last two days when I click “Submit” on comments in forum threads the site hangs and loads and loads and loads. Something is mucked up.

Oh, sorry – my site, as you see is fusedglass.wordpress.com
Now, if you look at the picture I showed (which is from Ravelry-com), you will see that my posts are interspersed with ones from WordPress itself. This is, or has recently, also been the case with people who pull my feed into Blogger-hosted sites.I wondered if this was a known issue, but to be honest, I’m not even sure of how to search for the problem: I’m stumped for the right terms. Anyway – thanks for taking the time to look, and try to help.

What is Ravelry? Is it a social networking site? Does it have membership? Are you a member? Do you have and account or a profile page there?
-
It’s a very large social networking site for knitters, with a million members. Now I write that down it sounds weird. I am a member, and yes, account, and yes, profile page. And on that page, there is an RSS feed of posts from my blog, in which the undesired ones are now also appearing. Wah!!!
-
It seems that becoming a member with a profile page that has a RSS Feed to your site on it has led to this. We cannot picky choosey which of our posts are displayed in our RSS Feed. We can limit the number displaying in them and we can reduce them to summary and that’s it. Please take up your issue with Ravelry because it doesn’t appear to be a wordpress.com issue.
-
I’m not so sure about that. Sounds to me like you should contact staff directly and ask. There have been some odd RSS issues lately. Use the Help button on your dashboard to contact them.
-
No, I’m sorry – you say,
take up your issue with Ravelry because it doesn’t appear to be a wordpress.com issue
but you are wrong about this. A) it used to work just fine on Ravelry (for about two years), and B) I’m having the same issue issue with blogger-hosted blogs. There is something gone crazy in my feeding. I was wondering if it was to do with the ‘sharing’ options, all of which I have now removed, after a brief flirtation.
Anyone else got any ideas?

I’m also having terrible problems, here, apparently with my posts doubling. Sorry about that!
And – what is the URL of the feed other people are using, in which they claim WordPress.com posts are inserted –
How would I know this? (The ‘claim’ is verified, for instance, in the picture I posted a link to -http://fusedglass.files.wordpress.com/2010/11/picture-4.jpg)

OK – I’ll call in the big guns and see if they can help (and will be sure to report back if I get any joy)
