OK – have had a day when all my comments seem to be going where they should – if the recipients want to bin them, that’s fine, but at least they are getting the choice!
am happy for you to close this thread – tho I really would appreciate an explanation of what was wrong and how it was fixed!
that’s not much to ask is it – another spammed comment over 10 days old was found for me today – so it has affected by relationships with people I met on blogging101 ….

The Akismet team controls everything under spam control and they give the Happiness Engineers a few ways to report issues like if a username is marked as spam. They ran their process to make sure you were not marked as spam.
When I check your user record a few hours later there was a confirmation that you were not marked as spam, which I reported to you here:
What specific changes were done — I do not know. The precise settings of Akismet are kept secret to only the Akismet team so that spammers cannot program around it. If your comments are going through now though, I could speculate that something regarding your IP address was being caught — but this is purely a guess.
Any change would have no effect on previous comments held in spam — such as one that was 10 days old. It would only affect comments going forward. Any comments still in users spam queues will remain there unless the site’s admin moves them.
I’m glad to hear that comments are going through correctly for you now. :)

thanks for your explanation – odd tho it was – I think the stalker I had during blogging101 may have tried to tinker with it when I refused to accept any of his comments – is that at all possible?
I did send siobhan the emails from him – yes he found my email address – but she didn’t think it was serious.
Otherwise, it seems very strange – someone else apparently looked and said there seemed to be a tag on my ‘identity’ or something like that.
See you are mentoring blogging101 this time – have fun!

hi again – glad this thread has not been closed
I left a comment on the community pool a couple of hours ago and immediately found that it did not appear – all my comments had been working fine until thenthe only thing I can think of is that I left a link on my reply to someone – is that a crime?
since then two sites have not allowed my comments = one who i can contact thro the january101 site has told me she can’t find the comment – have asked her to check the spam folder, but whether its there or not – this is just stupid!
could you have another look at this for me please……i really can’t stand the uncertaintly

Hi Julz,
Looking into your comment on the Community pool it appeared just fine:
If it was ever held for moderation it must have been approved by an admin of the daily post before I got there just now.
Please let me know the sites where you’re still having trouble and I’ll be happy to take a look if anything is out of the ordinary. However, if a comment is held in moderation or spam — I can only move it at the site administrators request.

no, that comment was made the day before, I went back to have a look to see if there were any replies, and as there weren’t, went on to look at some of the other people’s comments – read their posts and left them comments – none of which appeared, on their sites on on the ‘pool’.
I wondered if the reason was because the first ‘reply’ I left had a link to my site – because it was relevant.
Oddly, the first time I actually noticed the problem was when comments I tried to put up on the earlier ‘pool’ page didn’t appear.
and oddly enuf, before i tried commenting on the pool this time round, all my comments were getting thro’.
I have heard back from “Great posts worth seeing from Fimnora Westcaw:
MCMLXVI
POST, NO PROMPT
25 Days, 25 Songs”the comment I left on the most recent of the 25 days post not only didn’t appear, it apparently wasn’t in the spam folder either???
don’t think your offer of help there would work – cos I’ve already checked with her – unless you can trace an orphan comment – smile

It is fine to have links in your comments. This is not a bad thing. It’s good to know that some blogs will moderate comments with multiple links, but not all blogs. But that wass not the case on the Daily Post.
You have no comments held in moderation, spam, or trash on the Daily Post. Any comments you’ve posted there recently that we received are being displayed. Your most recent comments were all on the Community Pool and they are all approved and public:
If you placed other comments since March 2nd, other than those, they’re not displayed because they were not received. Not because of anything regarding spam settings or moderation. You’ll need to resubmit those comments.
Could you please give me the link to that other blog with the “25 days, 25 songs” post? There are many blogs on WordPress.com, I do not know which one you’re referring to.
However, if the comment did not appear in their approved, moderation, or spam queue — it is likely the comment was just not received by the blog. There may have been an error in your connection with WordPress.com at the time of the comment.

Alex – thanks for taking me so seriously
before I lose the link – this is a set of comments made yesterday – on this site, which was the one I was commenting on in the ‘pool’ when suddenly I lost the ability to be read – smileWhy I’m sick of news ‘stories’: A rant on media narrative obsession
see the comments – but you can read the article if you want to – smile
ie: he told me he found the comment in spam
this is the site I made a comment on and it got lost
this is part of our conversation on the january 2015 commons

Hmmm. I got a 2 likes from you just now, but this question came up next. So the comment didn’t reach my mailbox. Let me go and check in the post itself.Reply

No, I didn’t get the comment. It’s not showing up in the post. I usually see everything in email. And nothing came through except the likes. Thank you for them :)Reply

have you looked in the spam folder of the blog?Reply

Wow, hadn’t thought of that since I’d been getting all your posts. Oddly, no, your comment wasn’t in my spam folder, but I found a group of blogging 201 things in there. Only about half a dozen, but it never occurred to me back then that anything went into my spam folder. In fact, unlike Yahoo, which I used to use, where the spam folder is showing on the side panel along with draft, and trash, those folders in gmail are way down below all my personal folders.that’s the verifiable stuff OK
thanks

Hi Julz,
Thank you for those links. I’ll write up another report to the Akismet team and have them take another look. Will report back once I have more info.
The links instead of just the post titles was super helpful. :)

Hi Julz,
Just talked to the Akismet team and they’d prefer to discuss with you directly. Please email them here:
support (at) akismet.comReplace the (at) with @, of course. :)
Mention that you’ve been talking with me (Alex Gustafson) over the last several days and they’ll know your situation.

hi Alex
thanks – smile
I’m still wondering whether there was anything on the community pool site that gave me a virus -well you know what I mean, because both times happened when I was there. Its a great site but I am not going back there until I know its safe -lol?Another one of my comments from nearly 2 weeks ago – I think – turned up today – the writer had read my post and looked in her spam and found it – it was an offer to re-blog one of her posts, and I wasn’t best pleased not to hear back from her – until now!
this has become a major saga – however, apart from the system not being able to send two replies to comments on my site – which I assume was an overload, everything seems to be working again – did you do anything, or has it just righted itself?
-
Hi Julz,
I haven’t done anything else since March 1st.
There is nothing on the Daily Post that would give you a virus or affect your standing as a commenter.
Glad things are working correctly. If you see further errors, it’d be best to contact the Akismet team directly as suggested.

yes i’ll do that – am really tired just now, so i’ll do it later – will let you know if they find anything out
