It’s from Mark. He’s one of the main bods at wp.com. He hasn’t said anything about going and deleting the comments. My guess would be no, no-one is going to delete the comments.

You are in an adult predominated forum which is not for chat. Mark is the person in charge of WordPress Support and drmike is our forum Moderator. You have been told that wordpress can do nothing. You have been told the only thing you can do is not go to the blog in question and leave comments so they cannot be edited. You have reached the end of the line. Please don’t continue to post here about this because it won’t look good on you.Instead get on with your own blogging and find others to communicate with who don’t pull dirty tricks on you by editing your comments.
The person who did this to your comments is called a troll. Never feed a troll.

Being rude isn’t against the law, and it’s not against the terms of service. If somebody is being rude to you, you’ll have to handle that yourself. That’s how it goes. You’ve gotten a lot of good advice here, so take it and just write that guy off as a liar and a loser. Move on.

Take this hypothetical situation:
I go to your blog and leave you comments on every post, calling you names and generally bad-mouthing you and your family.
Would you not want to be able to edit or delete the bad comments?
Yes, I want to be able to delete them, of course! And then I would activate comment moderation! But why would I want to edit them?

Some people have language standards on their blogs, because kids read them. Some people just object to certain words, so they blank those out or use — or euphemisms. There could be lots of reasons to want to edit things, not the least of which is legal worries. Fortunately, the US Supreme Court recently ruled that blog owners are not responsible for libelous comments made by other people in their comments section.
They are, of course, still liable for comments they made themselves.

It’s the idea of Karma. If you live a good life, good things will come to you. Because he’s doing bad things, bad things will happen to him. Also, a positive outlook will just be easier for you to live with; stewing about what someone else has done in the past is bound to make you even more upset.

There is no form of payback.
Adults cannot help you.

As drmike said, there is nothing we can do if what the user is doing is on their own blog and are not breaking any terms of service.
