My Contact Info information won’t update

I click on “My Account,” then “Edit Profile” and it brings me to the Profile page.
I scroll down to the “Contact Info” section and attempt to change my e-mail, website, or AIM information.
When I click the “Update Profile” button I get the “user updated” box at the top of the page.
But nothing updates.
I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what I’m doing wrong.
Is there some verification e-mail I’m not getting? I’m trying to change my e-mail to a gmail address. Maybe that’s the problem? I’m checking my inbox and my spam box and I don’t see any messages.
I’m stumped!

Are you using an email address that already has another WordPress.com account? Each account needs to use a unique email address.

I have the same problem! The email address I’m trying to switch to doesn’t have a WordPress account, but WordPress still won’t let me switch to it. I’ve tried it several times over the past few days.

Can you send us a message through http://support.wordpress.com/contact/ and we’ll check it out? Let us know what you are trying to use for the new email address.

Your main email address, the one used for admin purposes and the one that comment notification emails are sent to is actually under settings > general and when you change it there will be a confirmation email sent to you. If you don’t get that email, then check your email spam filter to see if it got caught there.

I would assume no one else is using my gmail account for their WordPress account.
But there’s no way I’d know that.
The general settings for my blog has my gmail account.
Is that the problem?
I don’t see why the blog, and it’s administrator (i.e. me) would each need to use a different e-mail address though.

thesacredpath, that’s not the e-mail address I’m trying to change.
