My contact infois on another person’s site !

Hi ! Just started a travel blog and posted to get it started. Looks good so I was trying to figure out how to let family and friends know how to find the blog. So, searched for it and another choice with the same name came up so I clicked on it. It is has the same name as mine with a different extention which is: .wordpress.com. Mine is : same name with: .home.blog. I didn’t know there was another one with that name or I would not have chosen it.! Too confusing. I need to figure out how to change my name but first wanted to tell you that I went on their site (.wordpress.com) and it isn’t very current, looked at Home, About Us and there is a little information but to my surprise when I went on their Contact, MY NAME AND CONTACT information is on their site ! How could this happen ? How can this be fixed asap ? Or let me know what to do to remove it from their site and get it onto mine ? I don’t think I even filled out my contact yet, just did this all last night. I don’t want my information on their site and then I need to find out how to change my name so this doesn’t happen again. Thank you !!!!!

It pays to do some research before choosing a name but this happens more and more as the Interweb fills up. There are umpteen possible extensions to site addresses. Someone could use the same address as yours ending in .com or .org.

PS: Your contact details aren’t displayed on their site. Anyone logged in to WordPress.com see their own contact details pre-filled as a time-saver. I see mine when I visit that site. As long as I don’t post a comment and click “submit” the site owner won’t ever see them.
