  My current free site is normanoetker.wordpress.com
  My questions: If I rent/own the domain name “normanoetker.com” from WordPress.com for $18.00 per year.
  Then am I correct to assume, that if someone was to search and click on normanoetker.com that my CURRENT information and configurations would load just as they did before?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Are you asking about buying the domain mapping upgrade?
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

  Then yes, your http://normanoetker.wordpress.com/ link will still work. Your site will continue to be hosted here. If you buy the domain name normanoetker.com it would be like a sign pointing to your wp.com hosted blog.

  It’s sort of like your name is ‘Norman’ but you’re at a party and put on a name-tag which says, ‘Norm.’ You would answer anyone who addressed you by either name. Whichever name, it’s still you.
