My Custom Design Upgrade Stopped Working

  • Unknown's avatar

My Custom Design upgrade worked the day I bought it on December 3rd of this year. I haven’t touched it since but today I wanted to edit the CSS a bit for my blog and I noticed nothing in the Customize side panel was working.

Normally when you make changes, whether it be the colors or the fonts or the css you see the changes in real-time and the “Save” button is clickable. Not today. Not for me.

Today, no changes I make are taking hold, not colors, fonts, or css and the “Save” button is not clickable, only the “Cancel” button is.

The only way I was able to change my css was to use the old link to the css edit page which is https://makaz.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=editcss

    Why is this happening?

Another problem I am having is that irritating pop-up at the bottom of my IE browsers (Modern and desktop) to “Show all content”. Every darn time I refresh the page or open a post page after it loads I get that pop up.

How do I stop this annoying behavior and why is it happening anyhow? It didn’t used to. And before you ask, yes – I added *.wordpress.com and *.wp.com to my IE safe sites list. Even to be redundant I also added https://makaz.wordpress.com and http://makaz.wordpress.com as well. But I still get that annoying pop up.

    Can you help?

Thought I would point out two things as well:

    1. In the Customize side-panel it says “Saved” at the bottom, not “Save” which I believe is why it’s never clickable. Why is it stuck on “Saved”?

I even cleared cache, cookies, you name it. This is IE 11 on Modern and desktop.

    2. Regarding the “Show all content” pop up I neglected to mention that not only did I have the sites listed above added to my Safe Site list I also adjusted the option “Show Mixed Content” as enabled. But I still get that pop up every single time. Why?

The pop up is annoying for sure and has happened only on occasion here at WordPress but now it’s happening all the time. So it’s not at my end as far as I’m concerned because I haven’t changed any settings in weeks.

The pop up goes away if I change “Show Mixed Content” to enable in the Internet zones area of the Security tab. But if I had already added WordPress addresses to my Safe Site list and allowed Mixed Content there then why wasn’t that enough?

Is there even any staff working today? It’s only Thursday. I posted in the Staff section because I used a Contact Support link. I figured there would be staff working on these threads asking for help. Had I known it would have been slow here I would have posted this in the normal forums that seem to get more traffic.

I’m just upset that I paid for an upgrade and only got to use it once and now it’s unusable.

18+ hours later, bottom of the 4th page…

Luckily the Custom Design upgrade seems to be working again.

I still have the issue with the “Show all content” though,

  • Hi Mark,

I’m sorry for the delay; we answer threads based on the time of the last response in it so each response bumped your thread back to the bottom of the stack.

I can’t duplicate the pop-up in IE using IE 11 on Windows 8.2—even without having *.wordpress.com, *.wp.com on the Trusted Sites list.

In almost all cases, the pop-up is a result of security settings. I haven’t heard of a recent change in IE, but I’ve seen personally that updates to Windows/IE have changed security settings on my behalf without notice.

From our understanding, adding WordPress to the Trusted Sites list and enabling Mixed Content in the trusted zone should prevent any issues like this.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.
