My dad passed away and I need to shut down his website
-
Hi WordPress community!
My dad passed away in February and had a WordPress.org account. I know I should be posting on the WordPress.org forums for this kind of help but since I can’t log into his account or find his log in information, posting here is the only option I’ve found so far.
One of his websites was http://www.buy-classical-guitars.com/ and we need to shut it down because it is causing many issues with customers and companies.
I believe he developed his websites using WordPress though I don’t know where they were hosted. I also know next to zero about website development!
I’d love to talk to staff about this issue. Ideally, we would like for his website to be offline, though not deleted.
Thank you very much in advance for your help on this time-sensitive issue.

http://www.buy-classical-guitars.com/ is not hosted here by WordPress.com.
buy-classical-guitars.com is hosted by 1&1
Name Servers:
ns57.1and1.com
ns58.1and1.comWe provide support only for blogs being hosted WordPress.COM and not for WordPress.ORG software installs. You are posting to the wrong support forum.
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

You need to talk with the host of the site – @TT has done the first research for you. Their Techs should be able to take the site off line for you, but you will need to provide enough info for them to know you have the legal right to ask for the site to be taken off line
http://www.1and1.com/ – click on “Legal” at the bottom – that will give you contact info for the host

Thank you very much timethief, I appreciate your insight. I was able to figure it out with 1and1.
