  I am wondering about whether to transfer domain or connect and need assistance please.

  I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  Both are equally viable options. With a plan upgrade, you can connect an existing domain to WordPress.com.

  It’s worth noting that a new annual plan purchase includes a one-year free domain registration. You can use this to transfer your domain to WordPress.com, extending its expiry by a year.
