My domain
-
Hi, I want to change from wordpress.com to .org. I already registered my website axelstromberg.se with wordpress.com, but cancelled my subscription. However when I try to access my wp-admin on my new domain host’s website, it still redirects me to the ‘Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.’-page. What do I need to do?
Please, help!

It sounds like you may have been trying to access the new admin pages really soon after changing the domain settings. Domain settings can take a while to propagate throughout all the servers that hold that information across the internet. I think it should sort itself out in time and may already be working normally. To help make sure you don’t have anything odd cached locally in your browser, you can also try a basic troubleshooting step of clearing your browser cache and cookies to see if that helps:

Thanks for the reply, but I don’t think it’s that. I’m aware of the basics. It doesn’t seem to want to redirect me to my new page yet, and it has been over 48h. The fact that it’s still showing me my old wordpress.com “Warning! Domain mapping … ” message makes me think it’s on your side and not my server side. Any ideas?

I may have misunderstood. Can you please tell me the exact URL where you are seeing the error message so I can take a closer look? If you are using http://axelstromberg.se/wp-admin/ (which is what I assumed before), then the “Warning! Domain mapping … ” error doesn’t make sense and I might be looking at something different compared to you.
-
Also, I would still recommend this step as a basic troubleshooting step either way and you didn’t mention whether or not you tried it:

I might be doing something wrong as well, but I can’t access http://axelstromberg.se whatsoever. I used Softaculous to install WP under my root. But I still get the Warning message.
And sorry yes, I cleared my cache through the developer drop down.

I searched for axelstromberg.se at https://www.iis.se/english/domains/free/whois/ and it says the DNS was last updated on 2015-10-25 (today) but it doesn’t say what was updated (screenshot). Are you sure you haven’t made any changes to the DNS within the last 48h? If you have, it’s possible for DNS changes to start working in some areas of the world before it starts working in others. This is because of how DNS data propagates (which I won’t go into in more detail because you already said you know the basics).
I also checked http://axelstromberg.se directly in my browser from my location (I am located in the Northeast of the U.S.), and it is loading correctly for me at the moment. Here is a screenshot of what I see: https://cloudup.com/cX7lDQeqJ7I

Oh wow, so it is working for you!
Alright. I’m located in Stockholm Sweden, so I guess maybe waiting a while longer will solve this?
Sorry to have assumed too much. Can I get back to you in this thread if the problem persists tomorrow morning (CET)?
-
I think waiting a bit longer might be the right solution based on everything I’ve tested so far.
You can absolutely post back here tomorrow. I will be around. My timezone is EST.

Good morning. :)
Are http://axelstromberg.se or http://axelstromberg.se/wp-admin/ working for you now?
-
Hello again!
Yes it does, you may have noticed I started fiddling with it :-)
It was what you expected, I just waited, I did however do a double check with a couple of friends, the ones in the States had it working just like you said, the people in South Korea and Japan got the same error as I did. Ironically it didn’t work on my Wi-Fi at home, but on the 3G network and with tethering it did. Eventually everything sorted itself out and now it works everywhere :)
Thank you so much and I appreciate the check up, very professional!
Have a great day!
Regards,
Axel
