My domain does not point to my blog

Hello,
I have created a blog – xanaduadc.wordpress.com and I also purchased a domain – andreacanto.it with register.it
Now, I’m trying to point andreacanto.it to xanaduadc.wordpress.com, I’ve modified ns1, ns2, ns3 on the register control panel, however they also require ip addresses of each ns’s, otherwise it doesn’t give me the chance to save modifications. I found a set of wordpress ip addresses for ns’s however it does not work.
Can you please advise me correct ip addresses for your ns’s nameservers?
Also I’d need to change primary domain from xanaduadc.wordpress.com to andreacanto.it in wordpress store my domains, is that right?Thanks in advance for your help

There is no permanent static IP address for any WordPress.com blog. All IPs are dynamic ie. ever changing. Therefore WordPress.com does not purport to provide static IP addresses.

When I visit andreacanto.it I see your WordPress.com site. I have also checked the DNS for your domain and the name servers are pointed correctly.
To give you some background, the reason to use name servers instead of pointing to an IP address directly (A Record) is that if the IP Address changes your site is still accessible. We do occasionally change our IP Addresses which is why we recommend using the name server method.

Thank you so much for your replies. I know that if you digit andreacanto.it you can see the blog however in the browser bar link users can still see the original weblog name i.e. xanaduadc.wordpress.com (in this way if users want for example copy and paste the link for friends, these last will see xanaduadc instead of andreacanto.it, causing confusions.
I think you can override this by setting andreacanto as primary address in wordpress my domains however by doing so and digiting andreacanto.it you’ll see the first page of regjster.it (the registar where the domain sits).
I’gonna change temporary for you the primary domain so that you can see what’s happens.

I must rectify: by replacing primary domain in wp my domains and if you digit in the browser andreacanto.it the browser itself gets crazy and cannot load the blog

And also if you digit xanaduadc.wordpress.com the browser gets crazy as obviously point to andreacanto.it which gets crazy too

Hi Matteo,
It looks as if the name servers for andreacanto.it are no longer pointing to WordPress.com. To use your domain with WordPress.com follow this guide starting with step 2:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/You will want to
1) Go to your registar and point the name servers to WordPress.com as you had done previously2) Visit https://wordpress.com/my-domains ands set your primary domain to andreacanto.it
All other domains on your account redirect to your primary domain. This is the way domains on WordPress.com work.

What’s my dns shows the name servers set correctly as does Domain Helper – but I was not able to reach the site

Thanks again bdukes. We’ve again asked to Register.it to check for nameservers and they replied as follows:
“we confirm you that domain andreacanto.it uses WP’s autoritative DNS’s, as visible thru an on-line query:
dig andreacanto.it ns +short
ns2.wordpress.com.
ns1.wordpress.com.
ns3.wordpress.com.You need to ask to the provider of the services (WP)”
Now, we checked and as a result:
– xanaduadc.wordpress.com works
– andreacanto.it does not work, i.e. still point to Register.it
– we tried to change xanaduadc domain to primary one andreacanto.it however this last goes to andreacanto.it showing register.it and also if you digit xanaduadc it goes to andreacanto.it which shows register.it page.To be honest, we don’t know what else to do.
Are you sure that when the procedure is correct the system shows andreacanto.it and xanaduadc.wordpress.com as andreacanto.it (in the browser bar)?

I do see that you’ve added an A RECORD to point back to register.it in your Domain’s DNS settings: https://cloudup.com/iJytysMHfrC
This A RECORD is why you are seeing the register.it page at your domain. To prevent this from happing click the trash can icon to delete the A Record as showing in the above screenshot.
1) Visit your My Domains page
2) Select your site with your domain, andreacanto.it mapped
3) Click “Edit”
4) Click “Manage DNS”
5) Click the Trash Can Icon next to the A Record which points to register.itFor more on managing your DNS see this support page:

Yes, I’m sure. That’s how domain mapping works. All domains on your site, including the WordPress.com subdomain, in your case, xanaduadc.wordpress.com, will redirect to the primary domain on the site.
