My domain expired long ago and now I can't access my site.

    My domain expired and is now owned by a squatter. The issue is that when I try to access my site from https://wordpress.com/sites, it redirects to my expired domain. Is there a way that domain can be removed from my account and my wordpress.com URL can be used instead (its been so long I don’t know what that is either)? Thanks for your help!

    What is the underlying .wordpress.com blog URL please? Can’t you at least take a guess at what it is? I tagged this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe:

    Thanks for the reply! I’ve tried a handful of combinations with no success for the .wordpress.com domain.

    Anyone? I can’t access my site and would love to get my content back. Could a happiness engineer tell me what my .wordpress.com URL is?

    Hi there,

    Are you talking about the domain? :

    patsyzakian.com

    Please note that your account does not have a WordPress.com site. You only have the self-hosted site, with the expired domain:

    patsyzakian.com

    I can remove that from your account, but please note that there are no WordPress.com sites in your account.

    To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities. At WordPress.com, we provide hosting, support, and tons of features for blogs. Users also have the option to purchase a variety of upgrades to customize the look and feel of their blog. WordPress.org is a software for self-hosted sites. With WordPress.org, users are provided access to all backend files and can upload custom themes and plugins.

    Thanks for the reply! I didn’t realize that it was a .org install, thanks for checking into that. Consider this issue resolved.

    Hi there,

    a few years ago we wanted to open a blog, under leadingcourses.wordpress.com. We did’t do anything with it. Now we want to start again, but we cannot ‘claim’ that domain any more (although we can still login)… We can open leadingcourses1.wordpress.com, but we want it to be leadingcourses.wordpress.com (just as our .com website).

    Please help us!

    @leadingcourses1-

    Please note that the site: leadingcourses.wordpress.com is under another account – not under the account with the username: leadingcourses1.
