My domain has expired- and I would love to get it back!

    I (with absolutely no excuse) allowed my domain (gemkwatts.com) to lapse. It is no longer in the grace/redemption periods, although the site was still live until last night. Today the site is not live and my emails are down. I still have access to the linked Bluehost account, and when I try to repurchase the domain through wordpress.com it says I can contact support to try and get my domain back- so here I am!

    Could you please let me know if it’s possible to get this domain back and, if so, how I can begin this process.

    It is no longer in the grace/redemption periods

    Based on what do you say this? You’d need access to our internal tools to know the exact status of this domain, and it is in fact still in the grace period, though it has already been removed from our system and can enter redemption at any moment. It has definitely not been deleted by the registry yet, so you won’t be able to register it somewhere else at this point.

    I’m sending you a link via email which you can use to pay for the domain’s renewal. Once we receive your payment, I can email our domain provider to restore the domain. If we’re lucky, we might be able to still get it back before it enters redemption.

    Should we not be able to get it back in time, you will have to pay the $80 redemption fee as well to get it back, but we’ll let you know if that is the case once we contact our domain provider.

  • Thanks. I’ve emailed our domain provider to restore the domain. They can take up to 48 hours to respond, but hopefully we still hear from them today (that is, Monday :) )

    The gemkwatts.com has been now restored to your WordPress.com account and it is working as expected. You can manage it by logging in to WordPress.com and going to My Site -> Manage -> Domains.
