My domain hoster requires the domain to be first registered on WP nameservers…

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi all,

I’m struggling to configure my custom domain mapping. The process is quite simple and well explained. The only problem is that WordPress requires that I change the nameservers of my domain at my registrar to point to ns1.wordpress.com and so on. My hoster, in turn, checks whether the nameserver that I want to use (ns1.wordpress.com) may server my domain (i.e. whether the domain has been added to wordpress nameservers). And of course, it fails, because WP requires first that the domain’s nameservers pointed to WP nameservers… And so the circle closes…

How can I solve this issue?

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Kind regards,
    Kuba

Did you purchase the upgrade? My hosting package is with 1and1.com and I have remapped my domain dianebourque.com to my wordpress blog. No problem.

Good luck. Don’t hesitate to write if you want more tips.

    Hi guys,

Thank you very much for your help. I will contact support.
The situation is kind of strange, because it is the first time I see a hoster verifying whether the domain is already registered on the nameservers. But nevertheless, it may be a good practice, because it prevents from possible errors.

    Thanks!
    Kuba
