My domain is hosted somewhere else
-
My domain is already in use somewhere else, I want to develop a Real website and make the new website live. My domain is hawthorntree.com and GoDaddy suggested I used new.hawthorntree.com. Should I go ahead and register the new.hawthorntree.com and then can I make it hawthorntree.com when I want it to go live? I want to make sure I’m doing this right

Hi there!
Since your site is not hosted with WordPress.com (it is a site using the open-source WordPress software, from WordPress.org, but hosted with GoDaddy), you’ll want to reach out to them directly about it or write on the community forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can read more about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com here:
https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/http://wordpress.org/support/ is also a great resource for sites using the open-source WordPress.org software.
