My Domain isn't working.
-
I purchased the domain http://www.offthesoapbox.com/ from WordPress in March, but now it doesn’t work anymore.
What is going on? The original site http://itsthesoapbox.wordpress.com/ does not work either.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m showing that you have a domain mapping subscription, but that you cancelled the domain registration in March. Domain mapping won’t work without the domain being registered somewhere.
Are you interested in getting the domain back? I can work with you to do that. Since the domain is in redemption, there will be an $80 fee in addition to to the cost for registering the domain.
-
If I don’t want domain mapping, do I still have to get the $80 fee? Even the original site link doesn’t work. I originally only had to pay $17 for the domain.
-

You do not. We can remove the domain mapping subscription from your account and your free URL, http://itsthesoapbox.wordpress.com/, will work as expected.
Let me know if that’s the way you want to go and I’ll be happy to get you squared away.
-
I purchased domain mapping but then changed domain. Can i let the domain I no longer need expire?
-
bernardlunn–which domain mapping subscription are you referring to? Generally speaking what you are suggesting should be fine, but if you give me the domain name I can double check to make sure you have the upgrades you need for your site to continue to work as expected.
-
Thanks, you guys are great.
I think i need to renew Domain Mapping but it was mapping to fintech4us.com but I have moved to DailyFintech.com
If I renew Domain Mapping will it it map to DailyFintech.com? -
Thanks for the details. If you aren’t using fintech4us.com, it’s fine to let the mapping expire. Since the domain is already gone, I can also cancel the mapping for you right now so you’ll stop getting notices about needing to renew it.
-
Sorry, so what can I do if I want to just pay $17, as I did before? I’m a little confused.
-
Thanks. Will it still work on DailyFintech.com
Ie is it a fee per domain. I think i paid for dailyfintech via WP but if it goes via Fintech4Us and that expires do I have a problem? -
Thanks. Will it still work on DailyFintech.com
It will. You’ve already paid for the registration and mapping for DailyFintech.com, so the only thing to do is remove the subscription for fintech4us.com. I can do that for you, if you confirm that’s what you would like.

daphnemelaniet–

The C$17 upgrade you purchased only works if you already have the domain registered, which is no longer the case. The domain worked for a little bit because you had it registered as part of your free trial–that’s adding to the confusion.
If you want to go back to a free site we can do that by removing your domain mapping subscription. Unless you register a domain somewhere else, there is no way to get a working domain on WordPress.com with just a domain mapping subscription.

Hi, lizthefair – I remember a $45 fee for the domain I wanted. Why is it $80 now…? Should it not be still $45?
-
The $80 fee is required to redeem a domain in the redemption period. You can read more about it here:
-
My domain (http://cynthiaharrison.com) is supposed to be pointing to http://cynthiaharrison.wordpress.com and all the settings look right. Nothing has been touched or renewed since early May, but cynthiaharrison.com is no longer resolving. Any thoughts?

cynthiaharrison–we are happy to help. Your question isn’t connected to this users problem though, so you’ll want to open your own ticket. You can connect directly with staff here. You’ll answer a couple of questions that look like a search engine fist, but the 3rd step will connect you to staff.
You can also start your own forum thread here

If you add “modlook” in the tag field we’ll know you need staff attention.

No, the $80 fee is a one time expense. This year you would pay the normal domain registration expenses, plus the redemption fee. Next year, you would just pay for the normal registration fees, which would be $26 with private registration, or $18 without private registration.

Hey lizthefair, I just bought daphnemelanie.com – could you map it so that it’s my primary domain? For some reason I also have daphnemelanies.com (I don’t want this).
If offthesoapbox is available later on, is it possible to change it so that I can make that my primary and daphnemelanie.com my sub domain? Thanks. -
BTW – It’s showing that I bought offthesoapbox.com and it expires Feb 21, 2016. So how come it expired, and I never recieved any notification for it? Did it expire immediately after I bought it? I’m extremely frustrated with this situation.
