My domain name

  I have just purchased a wordpress.com domain name ($24) and if I cancel it, can I then use the SAME domain name with another service, or is it gone/used forever?

  Hi Cate,
  Cancelling your domain is risky. You may get it back or you may not. The registrar may hold onto the domain or someone else may grab it. If you do get it back, you’ll be able to use it with another service.

  The other option is to keep the domain and point it to another host by changing the name servers: https://en.support.wordpress.com/change-name-servers
