my domain name changed and I need to re-map away from the old one to the new one
-
Replace registered domain:
I have changed my domain to: rosemira.com. So I need to change the blog url to rosemira.wordpress.com
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
This is what I get when I click on your WordPress.com URL you’ve linked to your username:
rosemira.wordpress.com doesn’t exist
Are you certain that WordPress.com URL is correct?
-
Well, it doesn’t exist because I need to remap the domain name with wordpress. rosmiraorganics.com no longer exists – it’s now rosemira.com. So somehow the blog address needs to change as well, but it’s feeling like a circular problem to me right now.
-
The above site address rosemira.wordpress.com is not registered and doesn’t exist. If you want to use it, then will you need to register the above site using your current account. Only after registering the site will you be able to map to it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/#adding-new-blog-to-an-existing-account
What was the old WordPress.com URL (emphasis on COM) you were using? You can also map to that URL or any other WordPress.com URL. If you are domain mapping, the underlying URL doesn’t matter.
However, before you do so, please read carefully the Note on this page http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/register-domain/ :
Same Rules Apply – The Domain Mapping Upgrade does not enable the permission to use advertising, any kind of prohibited code, or upload additional themes or plugins. With the upgrade, your blog will still be hosted here at WordPress.com, which means that you will not have FTP access to your files and you will still be required to abide by our Terms of Service.

The two domains I have mapped to our website, through wordpress.COM are:
blog.rosemiraorganics.com (the custom url we paid for)
rosemiraorganics.wordpress.com (the free one)We had to change our domain name to rosemira.com rather than rosemiraorganics.com. Hence, I need to change the custom url with wordpress.com to blog.rosemira.com; when I try to go to blog.rosemiraorganics.com the browser can’t find it, because that domain name no longer exists.
The only way I can see to do it is to purchase yet another custom url – is there no way to remap the existing custom url to the new url?
-
I’m sorry if I came off harshly – I am frustrated by so many things that have gone haywire with the domain name change… of course you are just trying to help and it’s not your fault!
-
You don’t need to buy another Custom domain. What you do need to do is go into your WordPress.com domain manager and first set the primary domain back to the WordPress.com URL rosemiraorganics.wordpress.com. You should then be able to go through the process to set up blog.rosemira.com as the mapped sub-domain. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-subdomain/
As domain issues are not my strong point. I will also tag this for Staff assistance. Since it appears that they currently have quite a backlog of threads waiting for their input, please subscribe to this thread from the link in the sidebar and be patient until they get back to you.
Replying to this thread will push it further down in their queue, so unless you have new information, please don’t reply and “bump” this thread.

I have switched your Domain Mapping Upgrade to blog.rosemira.com and set it as your Primary Domain.
Since you have already added the requisite CNAME record at Go Daddy, you’re good to go.
Let me know if you have any more questions :-)
