Hello,
As far as I know, as long as the domain hasn’t been bought by other people/still available (you can check it on GoDaddy or any other domain providers – https://godaddy.com/whois) you can buy it back although it’s bit troublesome to do so.

What is the domain you need help with, please? The account you’re using to post here does not own any domains or sites on WordPress.com.
If the domain expired recently you need to contact the registrar where you bought that domain as quickly as possible, before it enters redemption. Once it’s in redemption it can be sold at private auction, and once it’s released anyone can register it, so you run a very real risk of completely losing the domain if you don’t act fast.
@retnonindya, please don’t try to guess at the answer where expired domains are concerned. And expiring domain is a time-sensitive issue and if someone does not get the right advice quickly enough they run the risk of losing their domain.In future, please ask for the domain someone needs help with, and tag all threads regarding expired or cancelled domains for staff, as we ask in our volunteer guidelines:
