My Domain Renewal Won't Renew.
-
I have wordpress.org now. I transferred over some years back still using the custom domain name I previously registered with .com, which is tecknicolor.com. I got an email saying that my domain name needed to be renewed through.com. However, when I attempt to renew with Paypal, it asks to confirm the payment then goes directly back to the store showing that I still need to renew my domain name.
I also don’t know why it won’t give me the option of just renewing the domain name for $5 rather than the domain mapping for the extra $8. If I am able to just purchase the domain name is there a way to avoid the wordpress.com mapping option and use that name with my current server?

Hi there,
I don’t see any attempted transactions for the domain renewal, so the payment request isn’t making it from Paypal to WordPress.com. We did have a brief outage with our connection to PayPal, so you may wish to try the process again.
As far as the renewal cost, all domain registrations are bundled with domain mapping since a domain itself is useless on WordPress.com without the mapping. If you are using it elsewhere, you might wish to renew it and then transfer it to a new domain registrar (since the domain will already be renewed, they can’t charge you again for this year, but may require you add a year’s renewal on top).
This document explains how you can do that:
