Hi Isabella, It appears as if both isabellaprins.com and http://www.isabellaprins.com are URLs for different self-hosted sites. Could you please explain to me how you wish these URLs to behave?
If you’re hoping to link isabellaprins.com to a WordPress.com site, that is doable. However, WordPress.com doesn’t allow for www sites.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

isabellaprins.com should direct to the same website as http://www.isabellaprins.com directs to. This used to be this way. WordPress is where I’ve got my domain but I use format.com (which used to be 4ormat.com, I noticed the change in name at the same time I noticed isabellaprins.com not working properly) to create/maintain (don’t really know how to put this) the website.
Thank you so much for answering!

Hello again. Do you know when isabellaprins.com stopped mapping to http://www.isabellaprins.com/? Let me know and I can look into what may have caused the problem.
Could you confirm for me that you received the correct name servers from your host? You’ll need to confirm that those settings are correct:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/Once you hear back from your host, let me know those name servers and I can help further with your mapping setup.
I also recommend that instead of mapping, you set up a site redirect. Given your desire to have all roads lead to http://www.isabellaprins.com, it may be the simplest solution:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/With a site redirect, if a visitor types isabellaprins.com into the address bar, they will automatically be taken to http://www.isabellaprins.com. I also noticed that this is a suggestion on format.com’s support page:
http://format.com/articles/1466If you feel as if keeping all website management in one place might be most convenient, you can transfer your WordPress.com-registered domain to your other domain host. If you’re interested, here are the instructions:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/Please let us know if you have any other questions. Cheers.

My wordpress blog and isabellaprins.com website are two different things, so I don’t want my isabellaprins.wordpress.com to redirect to my website isabellaprins.com (although I don’t really mind if that would have to be the case, I don’t really use it anymore). I also noticed now that if I try to look at my wordpress blog it takes me to the ‘bits on the wire’ website. How is this possible? I’ve got nothing to do with that website..
I am also wondering how it is possible that it suddenly changed, I didn’t edit anything and it worked just fine before… It stopped mapping to it on the 9th I think, but I am not entirely sure since I have been away for the weekend and didn’t have any internet so I didn’t look at my website for about 3 or 4 days.
I sent them an e-mail/help request asking for both the name servers and the IP address (maybe this changed when they changed their name from 4ormat to format?), so I’ll keep you updated!
Thank you again so much for helping me out! As you’ve probably noticed, I’m kind of a noob in this area haha.

I looked at their IP address and it looks like it has changed. I changed it in the DNS records on wordpress but it hasn’t changed anything yet (I only did it like 10 seconds ago, so I’m hoping it will work).

These seem to be their name servers(I’ve found these through google, they haven’t replied yet):
NS1.DNSIMPLE.COM
NS2.DNSIMPLE.COM
NS3.DNSIMPLE.COM
NS4.DNSIMPLE.COMThe IP address I found is:
50.19.208.159
(but then it also says 107.21.232.249) -
Hey Isabella! You’re doing great. I know this stuff can be confusing. You are absolutely right — if your host made any adjustments, the mapping would be thrown off.
I’ve made some adjustments for you. Since we’re not entirely certain if those are your host’s correct name servers, or if they have recently changed their IP addresses, I added a site redirect to isabellaprins.wordpress.com. I’ve also removed all the name server and DNS adjustments you made. Now, isabellaprins.com and isabellaprins.wordpress.com should both forward to http://www.isabellaprins.com/.
Take a look at your site and let me know what you think of the adjustment I made. If it works well for you, great. If not, let me know and I can help further.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks much!

Thank you so much for trying to help! But it actually made it worse haha. I got it fixed before (they changed their IP address so I changed it in the DNS records and it worked again, now it doesn’t work at all). But thank you so much, without you I wouldn’t have figured it out. I’ll change it back to the way I had it before and I’ll tell you if it worked! :)

I’ve changed it all back and it doesn’t work yet, I might be a little too quick with this since I only changed it a few minutes ago but I’m actually panicking a little bit now since it doesn’t work anymore at all. The http://www.isabellaprins.com link doesn’t work anymore either!
-
Yeah ok, I was too fast, it’s working again. I just hope they won’t change IP addresses again anytime soon haha!
-
Perfecto! I’m so glad you’ve got those settings exactly as you need them. In the future if the mapping “breaks,” at least you know the first step in troubleshooting is checking those IPs. Nicely done!
