My domain was hijacked!

  • Unknown's avatar

WordPress send me a reminder to renew the domain mapping of my web site by December 28.

However, my site has been hijacked and is now a very explicit porn site!!! :( For that reason, I did not include the link to my site in this message. The support team is on vacation until early January.

Is there anything I can do about this to reclaim my site’s domain? What action can I take?

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate sites for two different kinds of software. First read ? WordPress.COM vs WordPress.ORG

If you are referring to a self-hosted WordPress.ORG install post to http://wordpress.ORG/support/

If and only if you are referring to a free hosted WordPress.COM blog then change your password and send all details to Staff in an email to support@wordpress.com

I have a free hosted blog on WordPress.com and completely understand the difference, which is why I posted HERE. I’ll send my message to the email address you posted, but I saw a note saying they are on vacation until early next year and that, meanwhile, I can get help in these forums.

  • Your domain mapping with us is good until December 28, but the domain registration appears to have expired way back in March.

You’ll need to contact your domain registrar about this.

For now, I have set your primary domain back to http://homeandstuff.wordpress.com/ while you sort this out with your domain registrar.

Once you have recovered the domain, if you can, you can set your primary domain back via the Store -> Domains section of your blog’s Dashboard.

Ah, thank you! Yet another senior moment; I just forgot about the domain registration.
