My EDIT THIS won't save.

    I have Chronicle. I have entered a first chapter from my novel. All of the indentations and italics disappeared, ruining the style and making it extremely difficult to read. I went to EDIT THIS, clicked, then indented paragraphs, etc. I clicked upgrade (to save), then went to view the post. It didn’t save my changes. Tried several times–refused to save. Help appreciated.

    I notice my typo. I didn’t click upgrade, I clicked update.

    Hi there,

    WordPress.com is not a word processor, so using spaces to indent your text won’t work. Those spaces are automatically deleted when you click save. That’s supposed to happen.

    And if you first formatted it in a word processor to add italics, bold, etc. that also won’t copy over to the WordPress.com editor. Word processors and websites use different types of code, and you cannot copy the one to the other.

    Any formatting you want to add, you need to add inside the WordPress.com editor if you want it to appear on your site. If you want your text to be indented you need to use HTML to do it, or you need to use the Preformatted text option, but then no other formatting will show.
