My edits aren't working

Hello,
I am editing a website for my school newspaper, and any changes I make in the editor regarding the website’s appearance don’t show up on the actual website. I also went into the coding of the homepage and deleted a photo on the sidebar, but it keeps cropping up. Since I inherited the website, I don’t know where the picture is in the editor, but I know it isn’t in the media section.
Any hints, tricks, or solutions would be much appreciated.

The site linked to your username is devoid of blogger created content. I’m sorry but we cannot provide accurate answers to any blogger who fails to provide the exact URL starting with http:// for the exact blog they refer to so we can verify where it is hosted. Please do that now.
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support forums. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you are referring to a site not being hosted by WordPress.COM and if don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.
