My email address hasnt been updated

  I have been trying to update my email address for a while now but it isnt working and it is highly inconvenient. I have requested the change and gone onto the confirmation email, which informs me that I do not have to do anything and that everything will be sorted out. However, I am told the opposite on the account setting section where it says to click on a confirmation link. There is none. All there is is a link to the wordpress log in. I thought maybe if I log in it will confirm it, but no luck there either.

  This seems rather silly and ill thought out. I would like to know why this is happening. Am I requesting an email change in the wrong way or is it simply wordpress messing up?

  Any help would be appreciated.

  Sorry about the trouble. Hope the following helps.
  The confirmation email will be sent to the new email ID you changed to.
  (eg:- Changing from Gmail ID to Yahoo ID, you will get two mails, one in Gmail and another in yahoo. The Gmail one is just a notification and the Yahoo one is a verification that the Yahoo ID is correct and working)

  The confirmation email verifies that the new email ID (yahoo) you added is a valid email. Please check the new email account (yahoo) for a confirmation email.

  Hello,

  Thank you for the response. Unfortunately I have already recieved a confirmation email on the new one but the link just takes me to the log in page and even if I log in it does not do anything, so I am not sure what is happening there :/

  Is your new email ID linked to another WordPress.com account? If the email ID is associated with another account the verification will fail (https://en.support.wordpress.com/email-address/#issues-changing-your-email-address). Try using an email ID that has never been used at WordPress.com. That should work.

  Hi Beth,

  Before we look at other options, please log in to WordPress.com in a browser tab. In another tab open up your email and Copy the confirmation link provided. Paste that link into your tab where you’re logged into WordPress.com.

  Sometimes clicking the link doesn’t work as expected and this copy+paste helps. Let me know if this also doesn’t work and we can proceed in a private email from there.
