My email is hosted elsewhere, but I’d like to transfer by web domain to my WordPress blog

I’m want to set up a business account on wordpress.com and set up a new website, I’d like to map my domain name to this new site, when I set it up. My website and email domain are currently mapped to the same server/service provider, can I move my web domain to my new wordpress site, but keep my email domain in the same place?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi jono1000,

I’d like to map my domain name to this new site, when I set it up.

Sure, these steps will guide you through the domain mapping process:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

You could use A records rather than our name servers (which are mentioned in the documentation above):

    192.0.78.25
    192.0.78.24

If you do use these IP addresses to point your domain to WordPress.com, you will not be able to fully utilise our Business level plan as we require name server records to be used in order for custom plugins and themes to be installed.

The other option would be use name servers and add the existing MX records through WordPress.com.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for your response gemmacevans that’s really useful. I’m not quite ready to switch things over yet. It all seems to make sense at the moment, I’ll let you know how it goes.
