my email is not functioning after I mapped it to wordpress, I need some help with it.
-
I have mapped a domaine that was being hosted by green geeks to my wordpress site. That worked well. However I also mapped my two email accounts as well and they stopped working. I was not sure what to put as the priority number maybe that was it. Also I have not contacted green geeks about it, maybe that is what I need to do.
Can some one walk me through this? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there!
Please send me the exact set of MX records provided to you by your email host. If you need to confirm these, we suggest you ask Green Geeks:
Could you please provide me with the complete MX and/or other DNS records I will need to enter on WordPress.com’s end, so that my email on this domain will function?
When you send me those records, make sure they include:
- Your domain (or subdomain)
- Your provider’s domain
- Priority
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

Hello Robyn, thanks so much, I sent them what you sent me and this is what I got back, is this what I need?
Thanks
JesseHi Jesse,
Your domain name is firstlightcsa.com and in order to host your domain with us you will need to change name servers of your domain.
In order for your domain name to function on our service, you must point your domain name to the following name servers:
NS1.GREENGEEKS.COM
NS2.GREENGEEKS.COM
Updating name servers will host your website and email services with us and no need of creating any A record or MX record. In case you want to create A record and MX record, you do not need to update name servers of domain to us, in this case you need to create an A record towards server IP which is 184.154.90.58 and TTL will be 3600.
MX record needs to be created towards servername which is server10.websitehostserver.net
Note: Updating name servers will be easy for you. Please get back to us if you need any further assistance and let us know how else we can help.
Thank you and have a great day,
Nick V.

Hi Jesse!
I’m just a little confused by one of the things that Nick said:
Updating name servers will host your website and email services with us and no need of creating any A record or MX record.
It was my understanding that you were going to host your website here at WordPress.com. If that’s the case, you should have our name servers. That’s why we need those MX records.
Could you just confirm that Nick knows that this is the case? Let him know the reason you need those MX records is that your name servers for firstlightcsa.com need to point to WordPress.com as that is where your website it hosted.
Thanks again!

Hello Robyn,
every time I ask them a question I get something back that is incomprehensible to me. here it is:Hello Jesse,
Currently, your mail services are also pointing to WordPress.com for firstlightcsa.com as domain had been pointed using their nameservers
Is there an option at wordpress.com end to change the mail records?
If not, could you please confirm with their support if it is possible to point your domain firstlightcsa.com through A record to their end
If yes, please get the IP from them and forward that to us.
We will change the nameservers for your domain back to GreenGeeks and point your domain through A record to their serverPlease get back to us if you need any further assistance and let us know how else we can help.
Thank you and have a great day,
Vance Kent

Hey Jesse,
Wow. I don’t blame you for being confused at all. Here’s why I did — so you can avoid more back and forth with support — I’ve pulled the most relevant-looking records that they provided. I’ve removed a couple of the records you added, just to make sure that we’ve matched their advice. I’ve made your updates here:
https://wordpress.com/my-domainsUpdates to your records can take several hours to start working properly. Shall we regroup in 24-hours? If your mail isn’t working properly, you can send your domain registrar these settings:
https://cloudup.com/cvUEqn3wi8cThey can confirm/deny if this is now set up as they want. They also should be aware that your domain should have WordPress.com’s name servers, for your domain to work properly with your domain.
I appreciate the patience — we’ll hang in there until we make sure you have all your records entered properly, and your email works like a dream.
Talk to you soon!

Hello Robyn,
now, not only are my emails not working, but my website is not either. I have sent Green Geeks this information to see what they can do for me. I will check back with you later today.
Thanks

OK Robyn, email seems to be fixed at this point. I guess the ip was blocked. But the website is still not working. This is the message they sent me when I asked them to fix it.
“It seems the changes have been made at wordpress.com end, not at GreenGeeks as your domain is still using WordPress.com nameserver
Could you please get their server ip from there support so that we can point your domain through A record to their server?”
Is this something you can do?
Thanks

Yikes! Jesse, that’s terribly frustrating! Ok…here’s what you can tell GreenGeeks:
The best way to map a domain to a WordPress.com blog is to set your domain’s name servers to the following values:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
However, if your registrar requires that you create A records, please note that our IPs change over time. Because of this, your domain might stop working at some point in the future. If that happens, please get in touch with us to find out the most current IPs and then update your A records, accordingly.
If you still want to map your domain using A records, please be sure to create two records using these IP addresses:
192.0.78.13
192.0.78.12That should provide them with all the information they need to get your domain mapping settled.
Please drop me a line, let me know what’s happening! Thanks and GOOD LUCK.

OK Robyn, here is what they sent me just now,
Hello Jesse,Your domain is already pointed to wordpress using these name servers.
Please get back to us if you need any further assistance and let us know how else we can help.
Thank you and have a great day
I think what they are saying this is something that needs to be done on wordpress side to fix.
What do you think?

Hey Jesse,
It looks like you hadn’t deleted that extraneous A record from your DNS settings. I’ve done that for you…could you clear your browser’s cache, refresh your site in your browser, and let me know how things work now??
Cheers!
