My /feed/ is gone.
-
Hey I have seen everyone posting that your feed should be located at:
http://www.mileswilliams.net/blog/feed/ But as you can see mine is not. I have had this blog for a few months so reinstalling isn’t really an option.
I don’t know if I need to add something, but when I tried to move my feed to feedburner it told me there wasn’t even a feed there.
Please help!
-
seems that your .htaccess is gone, please go to Options >> permalinks, and choice the “Date and name based” option. That should recreate your .htaccess file.
-
I was on the “Date and Named Based” already. I switched it to something else, then back again. It said something about my .htaccess being writable and to put some stuff in it. I left what was already there and added more (the .htaccess was in my root directory so http://www.mileswilliams.net). So does there need to be a .htaccess file in /blog/ as well?
Thanks for the help so far.

I’m confused. Is this a wordpress.com blog being discussed in theis thread? Or is this thread all about a wordpress.org blog? Are we now answering questions from self hosted or web hosted bloggers here, instead of directing them to http://wordpress.org/support ?
-
pyles, it’s done now i can see your feed working. May be you need to setup a nice name to your user, because wordpress generates “
<ADMINNICENAME>” some feed readers can’t handle that.timethief, yes that’s a seft hosted wordpress…. next time I’ll send them to wordpress.org/support. sorry for the inconvenient, just was a quick answer :)

@jaroche
Here’s the deal: I put up the wordpress.org tag on this thread like our Moderator drmike has requested and you’ll register over at wordpress.org so you can give advice there too, right:) *lol*
P.S. Mark has done a lot of work on the FAQs and we have also been asked not just to supply snappy answers but to point bloggers to links to resources like FAQs, pink sticky posts and the forum search box wherever possible so they can become self-sufficient as soon as possible. -
-
Did not know there was a difference in this WordPress.com and WordPress.org.
Thanks for the help jaroche, greatly appreciated.

@jaroche
If I had a dollar for every blogger who didn’t know the difference between the wordpress.com and wordpress.org forums I could afford a new computer even though I’ve only been here a few months. … “please read me first before posting to the forum” … *lol*
BTW thanks for all the help you’re giving others. I’m expecting the next time this same blogger needs help he will go directly to http://wordpress.org/support but you never know. In the worse case scenario he could have “bonded” to you and may have the impression that this is the quick place to go to for answers.Here’s all the elements of the correct answer approved by our Moderator drmike for re-directing the lost bloggers.
OOPS! You seem to be in the wrong place. WordPress.com is a MU (multi-user) blogging platform. We run on a different code base than the version you can download from http://wordpress.org and you will get different answers to your questions here. The forum for self hosted and web hosted wordpress blogs is located over here http://wordpress.org/support You may want to take a few moments and read this description about the different versions of WordPress software posted in a pink “read me first” sticky at the head of this forum. Happy blogging! :)

@timethief: ROTFL!! if you have an Adsense account you could request some clicks and get a Mac :LOL:
-
So does this mean we are “friends” and that this is social networking? *lol* :D
P.S. I’m overlooking the adsense remark and believe me you ought to be glad I made that choice. -
-
Ya and we have been all along, eh? But we can’t go on meeting like this, while bloggers are waiting for someone to provide them with their answers, within minutes of posting them, now can we? “lol* :P
Please don’t reply. * -
while we are here doing new friends, they can wait some more minutes or learn how use the search box, before posting again asking for urgent help :ROLTF:
-
OMG … stop … she begged … please stop before I launch into another giggle fit. Or worse still before
:0 drmike publicly whacks our knuckles or
:S Mark gives us the hook.
G’bye for today. -
