My feed is yielding a HTTP Error 304

    The feed to my Virtual Book Tour blog — http://thegrits.com/blog/?feed=rss2 — was working fine when I first installed it, set it up, and ran it through FeedBurner.com. Last month I received a message from a friend who said that she was having problems accessing my feed. When I checked it with Feedburner, I received the following message below:

    The feed URL you entered is: http://thegrits.com/blog/?feed=rss2
    We could not find a valid feed at that address.

    It was suggested that I run the feed URL through Feed Validator at http://feedvalidator.org. I did and this is the message I received:

    HTTP Error 304
    It looks like this is a web page, not a feed. I looked for a feed associated with this page, but couldn’t find one.

    The feed was there and now its gone. I’ve even asked assistance from the Tech Support team of my webhosting company who keeps telling me that the feed is there and looks okay. Any ideas as to why the feed is gone on my end, yet seems to be there according to my web hosting company?

    Have you switched domain names recently? And would your feed URL not be http://thegrits.com/blog/feed instead? Try that.

    Thanks raincoaster for your quick response to my dilemma with my feed. No, I have not switched or changed domain names. The URL to the feed is correct and the original one that was working until now. Again thanks!

    Wish I could be more help. I’d drop a feedback to staff with a pointer to this thread; they can be specific about backend issues, whereas I can only guess.

    You need to ask at http://wordpress.org/support as your blog is not here at wordpress.com

    The first thing they will say is you must upgrade. You are running 1.5.1 which is very old and has known issues.

    Upgrade – then see about that problem.

    Thanks raincoaster and mark for all of your help with my dilemma. mark, I will do as you both suggest and contact the support staff for help. But as you pointed out mark, I will backup my current information and then upgrade to the latest version of wordpress.org
