  hey, is there a way to install plugins and earn? Where can I find the plugins? I am not looking for immediate revenue, but may be a year later. But how to go about it? Any pointers from experts will be helpful. thanks!

  Plugins are not permitted here at WordPress.com for various security reasons. The most popular plugin functionality is included within WordPress.com sites automatically.

  The only permitted revenue models on WordPress.com are WordAds and sponsored posts.

  So, I see that one has to have a custom domain to get linked with word ads.

  Yes, in order to run WordAds ads you have to have a custom domain.
  If you are looking for more ways to monetize your site you can use the free WordPress.org platform and your own hosting provider.
