My follower count isn’t updating and subscribers aren’t getting emails when I post new content
-
• I surpassed 1,000 followers half a year ago. On the notifications tab, the follower count is up to date but when you click on my blog it says I have 900 followers
• a subscriber told me that they didn’t receive an email notification when I posted new content
• I can’t seem to unfollow people, as it is jammed
• how do I block people? (Using the app)
• how do I check for spam? (Using the app) -
Hi there!
Where exactly do you see 900 followers? When I check your account, the follower count is correct:
You can also remove followers directly from https://wordpress.com/people/followers/illustratedbyhannah.wordpress.com.
https://wordpress.com/support/followers/#how-to-remove-a-follower.a subscriber told me that they didn’t receive an email notification when I posted new content
What is the email address of that person? Have they already check their Spam/Junk folders?
how do I block people? (Using the app)
It’s not possible to block a user from viewing your site. As long as your site is public, anyone can access it.
how do I check for spam? (Using the app)
What exactly do you mean by that? If you’re trying to check the comments that went into the Spam folder, you can go to My Site>Comments and by default, you’ll see all of them. You can change that and choose
Spaminstead ofAll. -
Hello! Thanks for getting back to me
1) I think it may just be an issue with my own account then, as it’s still showing me 919 followers. This is on the page where you click on to follow someone ~ I wish I could send photos on here so that it makes more sense. At least on other accounts it seems to have updated.
2) thank you!
3) I think that subscriber might have emailed support for help, but he goes by the name http://www.davidgittlin.net and is a WordPress user
4) thanks for confirming RE blocking
5) I’ve had a few followers tell me that my comment went into their spam folder. I didn’t know that such a spam folder existed, i use the app. So if I go into my site > comments on the app, this should load all comments including those marked as spam?
Many thanks,
Hannah -
Hi Hannah,
I wish I could send photos on here so that it makes more sense
Could you send a link to that page, and get a screenshot? That really would be helpful. You can upload the screenshot to https://wordpress.com/media or just use snipboard.io or something similar, then link it here.
I confirmed your friend is in touch and support is waiting for a response from him.
So if I go into my site > comments on the app, this should load all comments including those marked as spam?
The app is a simplified view; I want to say it won’t show spam in the app.
But if you want to see it from a mobile phone, you can log into WordPress.com using a browser, and access it there.
I hope this helps.

Hey there, thank you it feels good knowing how to check spam on here :)
The last issue to resolve ~ hopefully this link works. It should have a screenshot of the page I see on the app, which is showing me that I have 919 followers rather than the updated follower account. It’s also suggesting that I don’t follow my blog, which is untrue as I know that do I follow it. If I try to hit the follow button or hit the three dots to try to unfollow and re-follow, it gives me an error message when I try to unfollow it https://snipboard.io/Ec9SbI.jpg

Can you confirm the exact steps you’re taking to get to the screen where you see the errors?
It would also be helpful to know which version of the app you have installed and if you see the same thing when you navigate to My Sites > Stats > Insights > Followers Totals.
If you’re seeing something different there too, try updating the app if an update is available and log out and back in again of your WordPress.com account. You’ll have an option for this if you go to My Sites > Profile Icon > Log Out.
